Hey,
Can you please help me with this MCQ ques 11. It is a question on throughput accounting. We have to identify bottleneck process. Can you please help?
My answer is coming A but the answer in the book is C. I am not getting that
Sorry, but I only have the current edition of the BPP Revision Kit, and question 11 is nothing to do with throughput accounting.
Type the first line of the question and then maybe I can find it in the current edition (or if it is in one of the mock exams then say which exam).
Its related to soft drinks manufcturing company in which there are 4 processes- washing, filling, capping, labelling and we have to identify which of the above 4 processes is he bottleneck?
Ooops – it is indeed question 11 (I was looking in the Paper F9 book by mistake – sorry 🙂 )
For washing, each 12 units takes 6 minutes (or 6/60 = 0.1 hours).
So with 1,200 hours available they are capable of making 1,200/0.1 = 12,000 dozen units.
Similarly, in filling they are capable of making 700 / (3/60) = 14,000 dozen units.
In capping they are capable of making 250 / (1.5/60) = 10,000 dozen units.
In labelling they are capable of making 450 / (2/60) = 13,500 dozen units.
It is therefore capping that is limiting the total number they can produce, and therefore capping is the bottleneck process.
Ohh alright, thanks a lot 🙂
You are welcome 🙂
