can we show calculation for just one product when faced with calculating say direct material cost for more than one product w , y ,z , as done in bpp kit question 16.
    or
can we not show calculation at all and just write direct material cost for w,y,z.
    or
can we just write formula and ans ,for example , can we write total direct material cost= unit direct material cost ¤ no. of units and without showing any further how i would have arrived at value for direct material cost for w, y, z. write their values
    or
should we write just unit costs in brackets and total costs as answer.

Sorry but I do not have the BPP revision kit and so I do not really understand what you are asking.

How on earth can I answer that question? 🙂

How much calculation depends on what you are being asked to do!

What the examiner is doing is trying to check that you understand the topic and that you have not just learned rules.

You should therefore show enough workings to prove that you know what you are doing. The final answer gets hardly any marks – so whether or not you have got the correct final figure correct is not what is important. What is important is that the marker can see what you are trying to do!

Have a look at the marking schemes that the examiner gives (at the end of the answers to each exam – you can get them from the ACCA website) and you will see what I mean about where they are giving marks.
