sir, I did question using equation considering x as stores and y as canteen
I got the values of x as 194515 and y 86103
and the total answer I am getting is 352403.85
I looked over the book answer but they haven’t done the equation way. I did thrice the equation way but still getting the same answer.
my calculations:
x=181600+.15y
y=47200+.20xx=181600+.15(47200 +.20x)
x=181600+7080+0.03x
x=188680/.97=194515y=47200+.20(194515)
y=47200+38903p=216400+.50×194515+.45×86103
p=352403.85are my calculations wrong?
sir in lectures you only taught us repeated distribution method and algebraic method but in this, they are two different methods asked in 7a.22 and 7a.23 and both answers are coming out to be different even if the same mixing department overhead cost we have to find
also wanted to ask cant we use the algebraic method for all questions like this because no one is looking at our calculations and does the direct method and algebraic method different why the answer is different from step down method in the next question 7a.23
May 13, 2021 at 3:58 pm #620506You have used the reciprocal method and it is that method that matters for the exam.
7a.22 uses the direct method and 7a.23 used the step-down method. You can see from the answers how they work. However there are not sensible methods and it is the reciprocal method that is important for the exam.
May 14, 2021 at 8:16 am #620549sir if the publisher has printed the question of this is it possible direct or step down come in exam
May 14, 2021 at 8:18 am #620550because in f3 also you told me some topic which is more important for FR not so important for f2 but it came in the exam when I was attempting it.
same thing happened that time so should i ignore the direct method and step down or look into it
May 14, 2021 at 9:25 am #620565It is possible, but extremely unlikely (and would never be more than 1 question in the exam if either of them were asked). It should be obvious from the answers what has been done, but it isn’t something to waste much time on given that even if it was asked it would only be 2 marks from the whole exam.
