can anybody tell what is the best approach to study p1 and what study text and revision kit is more useful . is it advisable to use headings for each point you make (like f8) or to write in paragraphs (like f4) . examiner advise to read newspapers for p1 , any one knows any good web site which can serve the purpose .thanx
I think your best start point would be to look at and read the revision kit to see the sort of comments ( and depth of comments ) which Campbell expects from the students. However, don’t be misled by the length of the answers!
i think once study the text and then read past papers of 3 years thats all about p1
Attempt lots and lots of past paper questions (all of them at least three times). I would say that two to three sentances = 1 mark. Write in small paragraphs (except for the professional marks) and use headings if relevant. Keep the marker happy by making your answer really clear and showing them where they should give you a mark (which is each paragraph in your answer)!
Another good thing to do is to look at the examiners answers and try to identify where you would give him marks – this will focus your attention on the important parts of the answer, but make sure you attempt the question yourself first. don’t structure your answer as per the ACCA model answers though, always use short papgraphs.
Also be aware of the way P1 has developed – in the early days there was a lot more emphasis on knowledge (which happens with new papers) but as time goes on the examiner will ask a lot more analysis/application questions.
