Hi guys,
I’m about to start the ACCA and am looking for a bit of advice.
My aim is to complete one paper per month for F1-F4 as they are CBE format. I will be able to dedicate at least 15 hours of study per week. Do you think this is possible?
What study materials would you suggest buying? Are the Kaplan/ BPP live classrooms worth the money or are the content of these papers plain enough for self study? I have a BSc in Neuroscience (so completely unrelated) but am sufficient with numbers and have some – yet very minimal – bookkeeping knowledge from previous work as a finance administrator.
Any tips on what study materials worked best for you/ how long you think you need to study for each paper to pass would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks
June 12, 2015 at 5:08 pm #256634Hello Acaim,
BASE ON MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, I honestly do not think that 15hours of studying per week will be sufficient for papers F2 and F3. However, for F1 it will be enough. I have some background in accounting so i cleared all of them with 70+. I will also like to mention that a revision kit is really important and you should do all the questions in it for higher chance of passing the exam. Approximately 22hours/week for F2 and 25hours/week for F3 as F3 contains more content in it.
Best of luck Acaim

It is good to know that the F2 and F3 will need more study time in advance. And great to know that, with some hard work and hours, I should be able to pass one paper per month.
Could you suggest a revision kit from experience? Did you prefer BPP or Kaplan?
Also, do you think that using a textbook, lectures from opentuition and a revision kit will be suffice for all 3 papers? Or would you suggest distance learning for any paper(s) where the material might be harder to grasp for somebody with next to no accounting background? Thanks again for your reply. It’s a great help!

I use only OT notes, lectures and bpp Revision kit – bpp i-Pass CD for papers F1-F4.would you suggest distance learning for any paper(s) where the material might be harder to grasp for somebody with next to no accounting background?
OT notes breaks everything down for you so once you are willing and able to learn you have everything right here. accounting background not necessary - AuthorPosts
