Best route to become a chartered accountant with unrelated degree

I am currently studying AAT level 2 Accounting. I have no background in anything accounts related, but I thought I’d give the course a go just to see what it was like as I was trying to figure out what to do with my life. It turns out that I really enjoy it (so far anyway!) so I’m thinking about continuing down this path and hopefully eventually becoming a chartered accountant. I know that this would be a long way off and hard work, but really I just want to know what my next step should be. I could continue with AAT and complete levels 3 and 4 and then decide where to go from there, but I don’t know if this is the best option, or what my options are, since this is all new to me.

I have an undergraduate degree (1st class) in an unrelated subject. My A-levels and GCSEs are also in unrelated subjects. So far I have done three AAT level 2 assessments and got 100% in them all, but these are my only relevant qualifications to date.
In terms of job experience, I have nothing relevant.

Any advice on the best route to take for someone in my situation? I just don’t want to waste time (and money) taking the wrong steps.
