Hi,
I’m going to sit F5 in december and would really apreciate if you could advise me which exam to sit next that would match ok with F5. I would like to sit two exams in dec ( still have to sit F6 to F9).
Many thanks.
August 29, 2012 at 7:56 am #104738I doesn’t really make much difference, but on balance I would choose F6 out of the two you are considering.
There is not too much of a link between F5 and F9, and a (very) tiny bit of F6 knowledge is needed for one of the topics in F9.
Just be careful of one thing. Most people tend to find F6 harder when studying. Many of the topics at F5 you will have seen before (at F2 or at university) whereas it is less likely for F6 where there are a huge amount of rules to learn.
However, the actual exam for F5 is hard because there is a lot of writing and the examiner really checks you understand (and not that you have simply learned rules). For F6 there is not much understanding needed – it is just learning lots of rules 🙂August 29, 2012 at 8:28 am #104739Thank you for your prompt reply John.
Actually I have to sit F6, F7, F8 and F9 + Professionals. I intend sitting two exams per session and would really appreciate if you could advise me which combination is the best.
Thank you very much for your help.
August 29, 2012 at 7:17 pm #104740It is difficult to add much to what I wrote before.
I would actually take them in number order – I don’t think there is any real benefit in doing them in a different order.August 30, 2012 at 8:47 am #104741Thanks a lot John.
One last quick question ( there is no F6 Ask the tutor…) :
I have the BPP 2011 , FA 2010 & F(no.2)A 2010 text book ( UK variant). Is it still OK for the december 2012 exam? Many thanks.

However, those books are not OK because the tax rules change every year. (The BPP one might be, but check carefully – it needs to say that it is for 2012 exams.)
