    Dear Sir,

I’m doubtful about a question in BPP Revision Kit :”A person who is highly strung, extrovert and passionate about the tasks fits into which of Belbin’s roles?”. I thought it would be a resource investigator. However, it turns out to be a shaper (and there was no explanation given).
Can you please explain, sir? Because I find that’s exactly what a resource investigator does not a shaper.

    Iniss.

    Belbin’s website states:

Resource Investigator: Uses their inquisitive nature to find ideas to bring back to the team. Strengths: Outgoing, enthusiastic. Explores opportunities and develops contacts. Allowable weaknesses: Might be over-optimistic, and can lose interest once the initial enthusiasm has passed.

Shaper: Provides the necessary drive to ensure that the team keeps moving and does not lose focus or momentum. Strengths: Challenging, dynamic, thrives on pressure. Has the drive and courage to overcome obstacles. Allowable weaknesses: Can be prone to provocation, and may sometimes offend people’s feelings.

On balance, the question you quote seems nearer the shaper, but this type of question is always difficult become some traits can overlap.
