I literally feel like giving up ACCA at this point! I can’t believe I took my first exam in June 2019 and here we are 4 years later and I have not even moved forward! I got 7 exemptions from university degrees and was left with two fundamentals (PM & FM). I took a break from end 2021 to end 2022 because I got married and gave birth but now decided to restart it all in March 2023 and I was so convinced that this time I’ll definitely pass PM and unfortunately failed again ? This is so disheartening. Always scoring over 40% but just never getting that 50%…it’s literally been like over 10 times that I took this exam and no favourable news. I booked FM in June 2023 knowing that PM will be cleared but here I am, still on the retake level.
I need motivation because this is mentally exhausting. All of my money wasted on exam fees and annual subscription fees! And with this cost of living the fees keep getting higher and higher, at this point I would have qualified already but I’m still stuck up on PM.
I just need to speak up because this is my only way to feel relieved. Please help should I keep going ? At a point I don’t even know if I will afford the fees for these exams!
April 28, 2023 at 10:43 am #683687There are posts on our forum like this one that suggest “never give up” https://opentuition.com/topic/never-give-up
I suggest that you have to look at how you are preparing – whether at each attempt you are trying to approach anything differently – see my response to your previous post here https://opentuition.com/topic/so-tired-of-retaking-pm-exhausted-already-%f0%9f%a5%ba
There are lots of resources to support you on this forum https://opentuition.com/acca/pm not to mention all the ACCA resouces https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-support-resources/fundamentals-exams-study-resources/f5.html – which you should check out regularly because ACCA is always adding new resources.
Although you might think it too late to consider whether you are “ready” for PM, see here https://studentvirtuallearn.accaglobal.com – you can self-enrol (free of charge) into PM – and then there are 5 Quizzes of 10 Qs each on 5 core topics that underpin the PM syllabus –
you need to be getting substantially all of these Qs correct – if not, there could be something fundamental that you need to address. If you do well in these quizzes, all well and good … move on and make sure you have read and digested all the exam technique resources https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-support-resources/fundamentals-exams-study-resources/f5/exam-technique.html
When practicing Questions, for any technical questions, there is our dedicated PM tutor forum https://opentuition.com/forum/ask-acca-tutor-forums/ask-the-tutor-acca-performance-management-pm-exams
There are the resources and people out there to help you – but only you can change how you approach the exam next time.
April 29, 2023 at 12:54 pm #683721Hello!
Oh your rant sounds so familiar to me! I have been trying to pass PM few times too! I got exempt from few exams and I had to do 4 fundaments exams….I have started with PM as I liked the subject but I failed…many times….due to many issues…lack of motivation, being in the wrong job etc….I have switched to do the other exams they took me long time too…god few attempts. I finally passed them all. Now I am attempting PM in June and my nightmare is back….I really want to move on to P exams but this PM exams is like huge wall that I can’t get over!

May 2, 2023 at 3:00 am #683825So sad, not sure why this specific exam is such a nightmare! I rebooked for June as well but even when I study and feel super confident, when that ACCA e-mail result arrives, my heart beats so high because I am scared to be disappointed again and that has been the case since 2019 ?
