Can some please explain in full details how to calculate market growth fo several consecutive years? I am using the fomula that is given but never able to come back to the answer in that’s there.
Hello Nesha,
I don’t know which formula are you using. But see an example below of the way I calculate
Sales Growth
2008 50
2009 60 20.0%
2010 70 16.7%
2011 80 14.3%
2012 45 -43.8%
For example growth from 2008-2009 = (60-50)/50 = 20% And so on… Practice with the other numbers and let me know how are you getting on…
Hope this helps
Amarain
Hi Nesha,
The other way is to divide 2009’s figure by 2008 minus 1 and it will give you same answer as of Amarain.
e.g 60/50-1 = 20.0%
70/60-1 = 16.7%
and so on. i hope this method would be faster for you in the exam.
For negative %, it still works 45/80-1 = -43.8%
cheers!
