    Can some please explain in full details how to calculate market growth fo several consecutive years? I am using the fomula that is given but never able to come back to the answer in that’s there.

    Hello Nesha,
    I don’t know which formula are you using. But see an example below of the way I calculate

    Sales Growth
    2008 50
    2009 60 20.0%
    2010 70 16.7%
    2011 80 14.3%
    2012 45 -43.8%

    For example growth from 2008-2009 = (60-50)/50 = 20% And so on… Practice with the other numbers and let me know how are you getting on…

    Hi Nesha,

    The other way is to divide 2009’s figure by 2008 minus 1 and it will give you same answer as of Amarain.

    e.g 60/50-1 = 20.0%
    70/60-1 = 16.7%
    and so on. i hope this method would be faster for you in the exam.

    For negative %, it still works 45/80-1 = -43.8%
