Hi sir,
When calculating goodwill for foreign subsidiary it’s FVNA and NCI should be retranslated using closing rate.But in the answer they are retranslated using the transaction rate.Please explain.

Calculate the goodwill in the foreign currency.
Then translate the final figure at the closing rate.
Job done – that’s what you’ll be asked for.
