Hi Sir,
Can you tell me please what is the main Differences between two of these models,
when we are discussing the Finance performance in the business.I came cross the question about Restaurant, where they used the Balanced Scorecard.
Do you think we could use also The Building Model here, if this is service industry?Thank you.
March 18, 2016 at 3:29 pm #306970Please don’t ask the same question in two different places 🙂
Don’t call it the Building Model – it is Fitzgerald and Moon!
They are more relevant to service industries, whereas Kaplan & Nortons Balanced scorecard is more for manufacturing industries. For a restaurant it would seem better to use Fitzgerald & Moon, but you are going to have to tell me which question you are referring to in order for me to explain why apparently the answer did not.
March 21, 2016 at 7:06 pm #307257Hi Sir,
I am referring to the question TYU 5 on the page 391 called Faster Pasta, who used The Balance Scorecard. It was in the Manual F5 – Performance Management – Kaplan,Complete Text 1.9..2014-31.08.2015.
Thank you for your answer.
March 22, 2016 at 6:29 am #307285I have found the question.
Fitzgerald & Moon’s building blocks would have been more sensible, but the question does say specifically that they had decided to implement a balanced scorecard approach (and essentially the ideas are very much the same, just with different headings 🙂 )
March 22, 2016 at 11:43 am #307783Thank you Sir. So, does it mean, that actually if they (The examinators) not ask at the exam specifically what model, I just choose a model, what I am more comfortable with?
March 22, 2016 at 1:57 pm #307804Yes!
However, what usually happens in the exam is that either they specifically ask you about a specific model, or they give information (such as the Pasta question, but without mentioning a model) and then just ask you to suggest some performance measures. In the second case you don’t really need to mention either model – just suggest whatever measures you can given the information available.
