Dear John ,
Can you pls explain the banance b/d and balance c/d
I have a question here ;
MOTOR VEHICELS -COST
Balance b/d 35,800$ Diposal 12,000
Additions 12,950$ Balance c/d 36,750$
48,750 $ 48,750$
whats opening balance should be included in the following period’s trial balance for motor vehicles -cost at 1 July 20X6
And The answer is ; 36,780$
They say’ Balance carried down from previous period shows debit exceed credit and so its a debit balance brought down for the new period .
I really don’t understand it , Can you pls explain . Thanks a lot
We always carry down balances to the opposite side.
The net affect of all the original entries in the account is a debit of 36750.
You need to watch the free lectures on double entry bookkeeping where I do explain the logic of this.
Thanks John 🙂
You are welcome 🙂
