I prefer to watch videos esp for topics like 14 which are soo tediousHi, I wrote on Thursday and passed 1st time, must say I was honestly shocked at how difficult the questions were. All my prep from both BPP and Kaplan really didn’t help. My best advice would be to approach the learning from a different angle, they seem to expect you to apply the theory in a totally different way as it is set out in the exam prep kits.
July 30, 2017 at 7:27 pm #399524Hi!
Anyone got any tips for the exam? Im studying with Kaplan and my exam is booked for October.
Feeling worried as the comments above don’t sound very reassuring!
Any one else passed/failed and know why or have any tips?
Thanks

August 2, 2017 at 8:13 am #399966Hi Jess,
My best advice would be make sure you watch all the videos on this site and perhaps purchase Aptitude one from the CIMA store.
As we are all on the new syllabus this year I think they have changed the way they ask the questions, plus increased the pass mark.
As I mentioned before they ask rather very out of the box questions so the best thing you can do is get as much practice in as possible.
I am sure you will do fine.
XAugust 3, 2017 at 4:42 am #400096Hi Guys,
Am a new student and preparing to write my B1 and B4 exams next month. Any tips on how to pass them and am using kaplan study texts.
Furthermore am looking for a study buddy in these 2.
Am reachable on whatssapp: +260963865652 and E-Mail: BebrasGeorge@Gmail.Com.
Thanks George
August 4, 2017 at 4:45 pm #400414I’ve just passed my BA1 exam today and honestly I think the Kaplan study guide was useless. The video tutorials on here (which I luckily found yesterday) were loads better and completely saved me from failing.
Got my BA2 exam booked for September and will be trying the BPP online videos for that one.
August 30, 2017 at 10:01 pm #404488I just passed the BA3 exam and the best advice I can give anyone taking any of the CIMA exams is to practice, practice, practice! The reason for this is because it’s no use rote learning the syllabus – ultimately you’ll forget, and then you’ll have to repeat the learning process every time you progress to one of the next levels.
The key is to really understand the material. You need to really think about each thing you’re learning and work through the logic in your head – you need to understand why it’s done that way. Once you have that in place you can logically work out the answer to any questions that come up. Personally, i think the beauty of accounts is that when you really understand that every debit has a credit, you realise that the answers are always right there in front of you. The only tools you really need to succeed are logic and of course, the age old “DEAD CLIC” & ‘PEARLS”!
Good luck to everyone who is reading this in search of some last minute exam inspiration!

November 29, 2017 at 1:09 pm #418876Hi,
I’ve just started and can someone recommend a good exam practise kit? I’m doing BA3. Also would this be available free anywhere or would I have to but it?
Thanks in advance
Jules
March 15, 2018 at 11:04 am #442699Hi guys.
This is my first ever CIMA exam. The BA1. I just want to find out if you need the study texts or you can just use the lecture notes that are available on opentuition.com or even the free notes by Astranti? And also importantly. Do we get the formulae for the calculations in the exam or do we need to learn them? I would appreciate it very much of I can get your output on the above mentioned from people that have written the new syllabus BA1 exam.
ThanksApril 5, 2018 at 3:54 pm #445170Hi thank you for the advice. I am writing BA3 & BA2 in May hopefully I will make it.
