Average asset beta

Sir,

Can we calculate average equity beta and then ungear it to get average asset beta, or we should ungear equity betas to get asset betas and then calculate average asset beta?

You must ungear first and use the individual asset betas. You can only use the equity betas and ungear later if the gearing is the same throughout.
