first, is available for sale investment and non-current asset held for sale is the same thing?
i found it confusing looking at the examiner’s suggested answers for Exams in December 2009 and June 2013.
as in December 2009, in statement of financial position they classified the “available-for-sale investment” as a non current asset.
while in June 2013, they classified the “Non-current asset held for sale” as seperate from Non-current asset and Current asset. – i mean like they sum up all non-current asset, then sum up all current asset then they add the total NCA and CA to the Non-current asset held for sale to arrive at the total asset figure.
are both methods are corrent? will i lose marks by doing so? thank you in advance
First, let me reassure you that you are most unlikely to lose any marks for this.
Second, so far as I am aware, an “available for sale non-current asset” is the same as an “available for sale investment”
OK?
