    Hello all,

I am in the process of getting my 36 month experience and PER signed off. As an auditor, I will obviously get the 3 technical PER under the audit section. However, I would still need one additional technical PER and I am not sure if audit work qualifies for PO 7 – Prepare External Financial Reports. I would be able to write something for all the 5 elements but I am not sure whether only people who actually prepare the financial statements can claim PO 7. As an auditor you are not really preparing the financial statements but we do review everything to make sure the numbers are correct, classified correctly and there are sufficient controls and policies around the financial reporting process. Obviously, responsibility and final decision rest with management. For refence, here are the elements of PO7:

    Elements

a Contribute to drafting or reviewing
    primary financial statements according to
    accounting standards and legislation.
b Make sure that your organisational policies are fit for the
purpose of preparing external financial statements.
    c Classify information correctly.
d Review financial statements and correct for errors and
account for – or disclose – events after the reporting date.
e Prepare or review narrative and quantitative information to
    include with financial statements

Could fellow auditors share their experiences and what 4th technical PER you have chosen? I work for a big 4 in the US, so the ACCA is not that common, and I would like to be 100% sure before I submit to my manager for sign off.
