It is the ability to trace transactions in the accounting records forward from initiation to its completion. Also the ability to trace back through the records to its initiation.
Eg sales order, despatch note, invoice, receivables, receipt of cash.
Or
Go from a cash book receipt, back through receivables, invoice, despatch note, all the way to the order.
