Sir, in a normal Audit, When auditing a firm , the documentation of the internal control system is it part of understanding the firm and its environment? Or just part of the Audit planning process?

It’s part of obtaining an understanding. But how that understanding will be used will then be documented in the audit strategy and audit programs.
