Dear Lisa,
I was reviewing the “Specimen Exam” in the new Kaplan Kit (2024-25) and saw something regarding the FM exam assessment.It is written there that the FM exam is worth 110 marks, but the 10 marks do not count towards our final result as it is for “quality assurance” purposes.
Please answer these two (2) questions concerning the “non-countable” 10 marks of the FM exam:
1. Where in the exam will this 10-mark be tested – SEC A/B/C or a blend of all three sections?
2. Will the examiner make it explicit that “this 10-mark question is for quality and assurance purposes only”.The 10 non-countable marks in the FM exam will be tested in Section A and Section B, as these sections contain objective test questions.
Section A consists of 15 short questions, and Section B includes three case questions with five two-mark objective test questions each.The examiner will not explicitly indicate that this question is for quality assurance purposes…..
The extra questions will look just like all the other questions, and therefore you …the candidate will not know which questions are part of the quality assurance process, which in my opinion, is the best way.Wow!
I’m only realising that now.Lastly, Lisa: does this mean we should expect more than 15 questions in SEC A, for FM, in the live exam?
Please excuse my ignorance. As you’ve already said, “Section A consists of 15 short questions.” I don’t want any surprises regarding the exam structure, and additional marks (over 100) mean additional questions to me.The extra questions are there to standardise the exam experience across different candidates, but they will not affect your final mark.
Therefore, for example you should not expect more than 15 questions that count towards your score in Section A.
Stop worrying unnecessarily!
