hi, i genuinely would like to ask for help.

i just started taking ACCA, starting with applied knowledge level since mid september. i joined a tuition provider and it assigned me to take BT & FA for this semester. my CBE on demand exams will be on the 13th december for BT & 15th december for FA, which is in less than a month and in just a few weeks.

basically, i’ve did a mistake which was not using the right studying techniques, procrastinated, didn’t do the homeworks assigned, didnt fully focus in class, didnt pre read prior to lecture, didnt ask questions to list a few – because it was a drastic change from my previous education programme. maybe its just me, i wasnt quick to adapt to the fast paced and different way of learning. i think i have bad studying/learning skills.

for BT, i think i can still try to pass because i feel i could understand a few of the chapters, if not all of them.
for FA, i honestly think i am screwed. i still haven’t go through all chapters and i even failed (26%) for the last test which my tuition provider has held. i feel like i don’t understand the subject.

i know i am facing the consequences from my past actions and i should be studying instead right now, but i feel like there’s no hope and im most likely going to fail.

i really don’t know how to handle this situation. a part of me wanna just continue put in effort no matter what the outcome will be, but other part of me just feel like giving up. i don’t know what should i do (what book/resource should i use, etc) – especially for FA.

whenever i try to do a question in kaplan/bpp, my mind is just blank.

FA itself is so difficult for me, and taking BT at the same time makes it all burdensome.

i would highly appreciate any advice regarding my situation.

Welcome to OpenTuition! Perhaps you have a tutor at your college who could advise you?

It sounds to me that you should focus on passing BT …. so at least you will have made a start on your ACCA journey.

Can you not ask to defer FA to a later date?

All the resources a student needs to pass FA are available for free here https://opentuition.com/acca/fa

The only ingredient you need to add is your time and effort. There is no magic wand to passing exams without preparation. And, in fact, to merely pass FA with 50% is a false economy…. because you need a sound grasp of FA topics for later exams…. especially FR and AA.

I am not sure if I can defer. An info I found from my tuition provider stated that any drop of subjects must be done within the first two weeks of the semester which has passed waaaay long ago. Based on the info, looks like I would not be able to drop it unless I consult with them regarding this. Even if I do, I bet its probably unlikely to be approved/accepted too.

The worst case scenario would probably be just me repeating the exam next year, if I do not pass.

I’ve also heard about how important of having a good grasp of FA knowledge is to face subjects like FR which makes me really, really worried with my current condition…

Thank you for the advice, I highly appreciate it. I guess I’ll just make do with what I can for now.
