    Hi all,

After having all my centre exams cancelled since June 2020, and then having 3 separate technical issues which forced me to have my exam abandoned online – I am feeling fairly depressed having not done an exam since March 2020.

I am considering handing my notice in at work, and completing the exams separately without interruption. I have 4 left to take confidently imagine I can have these done by September.

My question is, I have been in formed by my Kaplan levy tutor that if I come off the levy funding that this goes down as a failed apprenticeship. Would this realistically look bad if I complete ACCA privately anyway? I am in a fortunate position to take the time off with family support, but at the moment – if I continue to work I doubt I can have these done until next year given my work load.

Under the levy, I am supposed to take 20% for off the job training but I pretend I have done this, since I am effectively running two month ends for two subsidiaries and would not be able to ever really take this time.

The levy also forces me to sit SBL on its own, when I’d like to complete this with another exam, which by default adds another 3 months to the next exam quarter.

    Any guidance would be helpful.

Apprenticeships are a very “British” institution – ACCA is a global qualification. As you’re not going to put “failed apprentice” on your CV but rather “ACCA Qualified”, I don’t think it is going to damage your career prospects – but you would be better making enquiries of a career adviser specialising in the area in which you work. You might also want to make sure of arrangements to get your PER and performance objectives signed off with your current employer so you are not having to deal with this retrospectively when preparing to apply for membership.
