Dear tutor,
For calculations in a report, do I need to include the workings in the appendix at the end of my answer? If I include the workings together with my answers in the report, will I be penalised in the form of deducting professional marks?
Unlike many other questions that I attempted, there is an conclusion at the end of the report for Lopten Industries (Dec13, Q1). Is a conclusion needed to gain more marks? Many other answers provided for a report doesn’t have a conclusion.
Calculations: it is normal for these to be in an appendix to a report. As you don’t know how long your report will be, ACCA is happy for you to have the Appendix at the beginning (labelled ‘Appendix)) then to follow that with the body of the report.
A conclusion/recommendation is needed only if asked for or implied by the requirements. Lopten asks for a report which “evaluates whether the two proposed marketing strategies result in a performance gap.” Somewhere you have to provide an evaluation – whether you call it an evaluation or a conclusion. A separate heading in the report is needed to separate your discussion from your conclusion/recommendation.
I haven’t searched fro answers that break this recommendation. However, sometimes ACCA answers are a bit free and easy with matching requirements.
Is my format as shown below appropriate?
“Appendix” (appendix before everything else)

“Report content”
That’s fine.
Okay, thank you 🙂
