I sat this today in Manchester and thankfully passed but only just, 53%. John’s lectures were a great help. It took me 40 hours + 6 hours revision to pass with the above grade, the to-the-point lectures here are great.

I revised lots of high-low, marginal + absorption and inventory control, very little came up for me on this. Instead I got whacked with loads of questions on budgets!

If you focus heavy on certain sections like I did it doesn’t half feel like luck of the draw.

For those who sat it today, how did it go for you guys?

I sat ma2 today also in Manchester and reading some forums it looks, that ma2 and f2 are similar. I got 60% and majority was flexed budgets and abnormal gain and loses, few questions from fifo and average inventory costing, some questions about absorption and marginal costing, apportionment and best even point but similar like you majority was budgets
if you have ever passed your ma2 can you tell me what is the actual difference between them? (Ma2 vs f2)
    Thanks

    Hi Namah,

Couldn’t say for sure, I’ve started from F1 and this is my first time studying accounting.

I’ve just taken a look at the MA2 syllabus, it looks similar to F2, but the questions you seemed to have been given in the exam look more like they belong in the F2 syllabus!

I don’t know, hopefully someone more knowledgable will chime in.

Which one you found more difficult tho f1 or f2? I know f1 is pretty much theory but how is the actual test- difficult or easy? I often struggle on multiple choice questions if there is more than one answer right and can’t decide which exam to take next f1 or f2
I had some questions about abnormal loss and capacity ratio and marginal safety. Overall I have a reasonable knowledge of ma2 and if it does look similar to f2 I should perhaps revise for it first
    thanks a lot

    Hi Namah,

I found F2 to be the more difficult out of the two. The reason is I had background knowledge for F1 which helped alot and I have background knowledge for F3 – the material in F2 was completely new to me and I had given myself less time to complete the syllabus.

If I was you, I would probably sit F2 next given that there are alot of similarities between the course you have just described and what I have just done. Better to get stuck into it whilst it is still fresh in your mind. Once you’ve completed F2 I’m sure it’ll all be etched into your mind forever!

F1 wasn’t complex, there’s just alot to remember. I didn’t know about open tuition when I sat F1, so I just studied the text book and it was enough to get me through on 70%.

Get a hold of some of the practise question books for any of these exams. I did not use one for F1 but did for F2 and it certainly helped.

Thanks for your response, I think it’s only wise to carry on with what I already know I guess you’re totally right to keep going once my memory is fresh. Do you mind me just asking what topics except budgets did you get in your f2 paper? I’m planning on siting it in Manchester early may and wanted to focus on topics I don’t really understand, thanks a lot : ) and good luck with your next exam!

    Hi Namah,

A little on absorption/marginal, job costing, labour efficiency rate, process costing & joint product costing (costing determined from sales price) and a whole load of budgetting.

The three big questions of section B, one was on budgets, one was on ratios and the other was on costing.

Just go through all of the F2 lectures on here and you’ll be good to go!
