Hi there,
I have just finished listening to the lectures and am quite compotent in the revision quiz.
I am looking at past papers now and when looking at the ‘model answers’ i just cant justify the length of them. Can someone please give me tips on how to approach my answers….i am not good at explaining things and i just cant answer anything as to that length. will simple bullet points be enough to pass??
Please help.
For the first 7 Qs know your law, remember it should be the main thing to show the examiner that you didn’t merely rote learn the topics, demonstrate your knowledge. Quote cases to improve your quality of answering, although the name and dates are not required it’s the principle that counts.
For example the question asks what invitation to treat is? [4 marks]
You start by differentiating it with offer to sale : it’s merely inviting someone to give an offer which the seller will accept in order to make the contract. An offer on the other hand is simply something which can be accepted or rejected. Now quote a case here. In fisher v bell it was established that goods in the shop window are invitation to treat and were not offered for sale.Notice that I gave 4 points for the answer, had it been less I wouldn’t have compared it with offer just the definition and the case would have been good
No need to go into the story of the case unless you think it’s important.
When you can’t remember a case name simply say in a decided case, this principle was established, like it was established in a decided case that the word of an employee destroys the exclusion clause of the contract even if brought into attention of the customer.
For the last 3 Qs, my advice is ISAC
I – what are the issues
S – state the relevant law
A – apply them to the scenario
C – Conclusionit worked for me!

I second Alee’s advice.
i would also advise that you practice pass papers and compare what you write to model answers and see if in fewer words you bring across the points required to gain the marks.
remember that in some cases its one mark for each valid point. the kit and pass paper answers has a tutorial element so they may have 6 points where only 3 is needed to encompass all the points that the reader could have made.
The issue that most students have with written paper is that they write a lot without making valid points. so they full one page answering a four mark question and only get 1 or 2 marks for it.
