    Good morning sir,

I want to know the “Dos and Donts”
on how to start answering exam questions.

E.g (Question)…comment on the matters that you should consider.

(Ans) I will review the contract
    agreement…

Can I start just that way “I will” for such a question or the like?

I would probably start with something like ……

“When faced with the problems outlined in the question, the auditor would most likely consider a number of matters that are easily subdivided into appropriate headings as follows: ”

And then identify the matters in those appropriate subheadings.

If it were me doing this exam, I would avoid like the plague the use of the first person singular! Yes, I know! The question specifically asks you to “comment on the matters that you should consider” but, even so, I would make the effort to use the impersonal “the auditor” or even something like “the current situation should be considered” or “it is equally important that one should consider”

This may be a matter personal to me and it’s potentially the case that no other lecturer anywhere else in the world (or even in opentuition!) agrees but, in my humble opinion, “I, me and my” reads like a story written by a 7 year old and could well finish with “and then my Mummy woke me up and I realised that it was all a dream”

    UGH!!!!!!

(When writing a letter or anything professional, “We, us and our” would be the pronouns to use)

    OK?
