year ———————————-0——-1——-2———–3
Earnings per share————–30—–31.8—-33.9—-35.7
dividend per share—————13—–13.2—-13.3—–15
share price at start of year—–1.95—-1.98—-2.01—–2.25
which of the following is correct:
A. div payout ratio is greater than 40% in every year in the period
B. mean growth in dividends per share over the period is 4%
C. total shareholder return for the third year is 26%
D. mean growth in earnings per share over the period is 6% per year
the correct answer is D.
i chose B since DPS is (15/13)^0.3333-1=4.88%
for D, the EPS is (35.7/30)^.333333=5.9 => approx 6%
so, what is happening here?
I don’t understand what your problem is.
You have calculating yourself that the earnings growth is 6%, which means D is correct.
You have also calculated that the dividend growth is 4.88%, which is not 4% and so B is not correct.
oh….lol… me=duh
thank u..:)
You are welcome 🙂
Sorry to open this up again, but could you please explain why Option A is incorrect?
As per my calculations dividend payout ratio is >40% for all the periods.
In year 2, the ratio is 13.3/39.3 = 33.8%, which is less than 40%.
Oof that was silly, my bad!
Thank you for the clarification.
No problem, and you are welcome 🙂
