It has been said by many persons here guys, so let me reiterate.

    Re: 10 year rule
The ten year rule was reset with the syllabus change in 2007, that would have expired in 2017. ACCA has changed the rule effective 2016.

    New rule: 7 year rule
Now all fundamentals levels which have been passed no longer have an expiration date. P-level papers passed now have a 7 year time limit. Any P-level papers passed 7 years or more without completing all P-level papers will expire and hence will have to be redone.

Let me give you practical examples

You passed P1 in June 2008 and in June 2015 you have only P7 left. You fail P7 in the June sitting. Then for December 2015 you will have to resit P7 and P1 as P1 pass will have expired, and so on and so on.

You passed P1 in June 2014. You have until June 2021 to complete P-level.

You have not yet sat any P-level papers as of June 2015. You don’t fall under the 7 year rule as yet.

There’s no 10 year time limit for the PER, but bear in mind that the PER content is changing in 2016:

What if I did not pass any of P-level papers and my last session remain 4 years. Do I still fall under 7 years rule for my first P-level paper?

@Prowalau I am not understanding your question. If you have not passed any P-level papers, your seven (7) years has not started.

    …

i was registered with acca back in 2007 …i have completed 12 papers and rushing for the two left to finish in time …because there is a new rule that F1–F9 there is no time limits to finish .but when you reach to professional level you have 7 years time span to finish all professional papers ,and if any student is not able to finish then they have repeat their professional exams from P1 again even if they passed before .

So i need to finish upto next june session ..otherwise God forbid i have to repeat From P1 again ..although i have already passed it .and that 7 years duration will apply again ..and so on..

I hope to get a pass mark in the two professional options that i m left with.

Hi I will also be caught out by the 2017 session. On my last check my ACCA informs me that my last session will be June 2017. I have 4 papers left and have been left extremely worried thinking I will lose all my previous passes. I made the decision to speak directly with ACCA today.
    People do not fear!

ACCA have confirmed the 10 year rule is not in effect. It has been replaced with a 7 year rule. Basically the 7 year rule starts from the date you pass your first P paper.
Take me as an example. I passed my first and only P paper in 2014, this means I have 7 years from 2014 to pass all my papers (2021) If for any reason I do not pass all my papers I will have to re take the P paper I passed in 2014 (before the rule came into effect)

Note the F papers have no time limit!!

I found this quite confusing – especially as i dug out my acca card today for my P7 exam and realised that, under the old 10 yr rule, tomorrow would be my last chance to complete P7.

I believed that if a failed P7 7 years after passing P1 that i would have ‘failed’ the professional level and would have to resit all P level papers – THIS IS NOT TRUE.

Every individual paper at P level is valid for 7 years from the date you pass it.

This is now very clearly shown on the acca portal under ‘exam status and results’ then ‘view your status report’. here you will find every exam listed with the exact date that it expires.

So i can see that my P1 pass expires in Sept 2017 – so if i haven’t passed P7 by Sept 2017 then i will have to sit P7 and P1. after that i have until 2019 to complete P1 and P7 as i didn’t pass P2 til 2 years after passing P1. and so on it goes.

log on and see, it now shows all of your passing requirements (relevant experince etc) very clearly as a series of bar charts.

Hope this helps some of you. its difficult to explain, as per some of the posts above, but its very clear to see on the website.
