Hello,
I would like some advice on how to get started for preparing for the AFM paper in June 21.
I have got a hold of the Kaplan textbook and exam kit but have noticed the order of topics differ from the lectures on OT which caused slight confusion.
*I have listed the content order below per the textbook below.Would going through all lectures on OT first then Kaplan study text > Exam kit suffice?
Hoping to complete the study phase in Feb.
*Content
1. The role and responsibility of the financial manager
2. Investment appraisal
3. International operations and investment appraisal
4. The financing decision
5. The dividend decision
6. The WACC
7. Risk adjusted WACC and adjusted present value
8. Option pricing
9. An intro to risk management
10. Hedging foreign exchange risk
11. Hedging interest rate risk
12. Strategic aspects of acquisitions
13. Business valuation
14. Corporate failure and reconstructionThanks

I cannot explain why Kaplan choose to have a different order than us – we teach them in the most sensible order from the point of view of learning!
Do as you are suggesting. Watch all of our lectures, then go through the Study Text.
When you feel confident of all the topics then work through the Exam Kit, attempting every question properly before looking at the answers and learning from your mistakes. It is not sensible really to look at the exam kit before finishing studying because in Paper AFM most questions are testing several different syllabus areas and it is obviously not possible to learn every area at the same time (whichever order the topics are covered 🙂 ).
Best is to have a current edition of the exam kit, because the syllabus has changed a bit over the years. If your edition is no older than 1 or 2 years then it is OK, but in that case also download and practice the more recent exam questions from the ACCA website.
