Hi John,
Hope you’re doing well. I’ll be sitting for the AFM exam in December, and I was wondering if you could guide me with respect to the following:
– The topics to get a good grip on before the rest of the syllabus. Like part A of the syllabus (role of a senior financial advisor) looks less important than the other areas, so I’m thinking if it would be a good idea to get on with it later though I’m not sure which is why I need your help.
– I’ve skimmed the Kaplan exam kit and the questions are broken down into different areas unlike the exam kits for the other professional level exams. So, would it be okay to practice as I go through the syllabus, or should I complete the syllabus first and then move on to practice like the other professional level exams.
– Lastly, the amendment section of the syllabus states a few objectives that have been deleted. So, silly of me to ask but these will no longer be tested right?
My apologies for making this long but I really needed to ask this to have a good approach.

2. I think it better to complete your studying first and then attempt the questions in the Exam Kit. The reason is that most of the past exam questions involve using knowledge of various different topics (which maybe the exception of the risk management questions which are more specific).
3. They will no longer be tested (although there are only two deletions and they were pretty minor anyway 🙂 )
September 19, 2023 at 10:20 am #692254I guess it’ll be sensible to go through Section A to know what it’s all about and follow the sequence in the study text but focus more on Section B and E (at least initially) and then move on to practice.
Thank you so much! 🙂
September 19, 2023 at 3:51 pm #692271I agree with your idea. Also do make sure that you read all of the technical articles on the ACCA website as well as watching our free lectures.
