Good day,
My heart is aching right now as I found out last night that I failed P7 (44%). I really thought I would have passed it this time around. This was my 3rd attempt.
Can you kindly give me some tips for passing this exam the 4th time?
Please.
Kind regards
Ramona SeenathAugust 8, 2014 at 5:09 pm #188611Hi Ramona
Try this
Get hold of a reputable revision kit.
Read a question requirement.
Divide the number of marks for the question by 2. That’s the number of minutes you have to plan an answer.
Ok, plan an answer. Just one word bullet points are ideal.
At the end of your planning time, stop. Count up the number of different points you have planned to write in a full answer.
Did you get half marks?
Check the printed solution to see what you missed. See if the solution has managed to get two separate points out of just one of yours.
Did you manage to score more than half in each and every part of the question requirements?
Do this exercise again and again and again ….. until you’re totally sick of doing it.
And then do it some more.
I believe that the biggest cause of failure in this exam is an inability to score enough separate points within the time allocation. And that ability has to be spread across all the parts of those questions that you attempt
Hope that helps but let me know how you are going on
August 8, 2014 at 5:47 pm #188638Hello,
Thank you so much for your quick response. You make me feel like there is some hope (I am tear-ing up here).
I will definitely try your it.
Can you recommend a reputable revision kit?
Thank you again and I will definitely keep you posted on my progress…
I have another question… are marks awarded on the scripts written (only) or do acca look at your PER information to award final marks?
(I know its a stupid question but I always wondered)Have a wonderful day.
Ramona
August 9, 2014 at 8:53 am #188820Hi, don’t tear up – you’ll get water on your keyboard and that will be an expensive replacement 🙂
Yes, it’s a stupid question! 🙂
The 50% target is entirely achieved from your exam script. PER has nothing at all to do with it
August 11, 2014 at 1:38 pm #189390Good Morning Sir,
too late the keyboard is swimming in salt water and its not the sea salt.
I really dont know what to do… So many thing are playing on my mind…Should I switch to another opting? this was my third attempt at P7.
Did the P7 syllabus change?
Did the P2 syllabus change?not sure if you can guide me here.
Romes
August 12, 2014 at 7:32 am #189570P2 has changed by bringing in integrated reporting and IAS 41 Agriculture (why are you asking about P2?)
Integrated reporting is also in P7 – there is a chapter in the revised P7 course notes
Dry that keyboard and try to follow the advice I gave you earlier on this thread. It does work!
August 13, 2014 at 2:37 am #189757Hi Sir,
The reason I am asking about p2 is because its part of the p7 syllabus … Not so?I will definitely take your advise and keep u posted. Went to my doctor yesterday and he didn’t charge me for the visit cause I was looking down … I guess god is trying to tell me he is still there even though I don’t feel like it.
Is there anyway ACCA will give me feedback on where I would have gone wrong? If I write them will they give me that info?

Romes I would suggest you to take a print out of last six years papers.practice all question but make sure you write your answers first then look back at the examiner answers.don’t go for the kit.I can guarantee you a pass if you follow the above simple advice
August 13, 2014 at 6:53 am #189782A little bit wild of alysyyed to “guarantee” a pass – alysyyed, does this mean that if Romes follows your advice and (Heaven forbid) fails, your guarantee will involve you paying for her resit fee?
Romes you are correct, knowledge of IAS / IFRS is very important for P7
There is absolutely no way that ACCA is going to start giving feedback on individuals’ exam scripts. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME – you will simply prolong your disappointment and I worry not only for your keyboard but also your doctor – he / she will not be able to afford to live if you keep visiting him / her. Besides, that’s what I thought doctors normally see – people looking depressed and ill.
Have you tried writing for 1 minute 18 seconds yet?
I don’t know if you saw the text from opentuition about the ACCA removing us in their recommended resource list from their website. If you did see it, it might help us if you were to email Helen Brand and suggest that their action is ill-considered and elitist
Cheers
August 14, 2014 at 11:30 pm #190182Thanks Alysyyed for your support and advice. I do appreciate it.
I gave not started studying yet… Monday.
I didn’t seethe text Mike. Can u direct me to it? I will definitely support opentuition and this venture.
August 15, 2014 at 7:32 am #190294It’s on the general forum with a heading (I think) of “accarichnations”
August 16, 2014 at 10:46 am #190499WOW @ Mike Little…amazing ..your question requirement tip is a great eye opener for me..

August 17, 2014 at 8:11 pm #190774Hi,
Hi, Romes
I was just feeling like asking the tutor but when i opened it saw you post it was like you speaking my words. Unfortunately we are in the same boat. It was my 3rd attempt as well. And because of this i couldn’t qualify acca. P7 and P4 are holding me back and seriously i feel like just helpless and broken.
I am preparing for December attempt as well. So i though if you don’t mind we can be study buddies and do this together keeping each other motivated and on track to knock it out this December once and for all.
Not all but we can start with little by little on daily basis and than discuss it together. Either way (skype, whatsapp, email.)
August 18, 2014 at 7:18 am #190811Hi Taurus, kind of you to include me in your correspondence with Romes!
There’s a study group for P7 just started (first session was yesterday) on this site. Maybe you’re not too late to join in with them

August 27, 2014 at 10:59 am #192504hello,
i am giving p7 in this attempt , can u please let me know how should i start my stdudies? and where to start from.August 27, 2014 at 1:24 pm #192524Hi Ali
have you read some of the posts on this thread? Have you read the exam technique article for P7 specifically and for ACCA exams generally?
Have you read the two articles from the P3 (yes, P3) marking team that appeared in Student Accountant in late 2012 (from memory(
Let me ask you to do that, and then post again if you need further guidance
Thanks
August 28, 2014 at 8:43 am #192613how do i join the study group?….olasunmola@live.com
August 28, 2014 at 9:28 am #192618Can you please tell me how to join the study group. I want to join also grouplife91@gmail.com
August 28, 2014 at 3:12 pm #192662olasunmola, ali
there’s been constant posts about this over this past month – try the P7 general forum page and particularly look for Hamdy Hafeez
This site is FULL of free resource and yet you neither of you appear to have used it – and if you have, it’s only been in a minimalist way
It leaves me speechless!
