Forums › ACCA Forums › General ACCA Forums › Advice on how an accountancy practice operates-Any help greatly appreciated!!
Hi guys,
Please could someone explain to me exactly what an accountancy practice does? I know they do the accounts on behalf of business’, however, would they also carrying out other tasks such as invoicing (raising invoices on the business’ behalf and also paying invoices on their behalf), payroll, and general queries (i.e. answering calls, secretary work etc)? . So in essence, would/can they carry out all office duties on a business’ behalf? I was thinking that this maybe the case for a construction company who doesn’t have the time or resources to have an office for themselves, so outsource to the practice?
Many thanks
Hi,
I’ve worked in Practice my whole career, our normal work consists of preparing accounts, tax returns for individuals and companies, perhaps some VAT return preparation, perhaps payroll, tax advice and planning, corporate finance etc
I’ve never carried out office duties for a client but a part of an accounting practice is called ‘outsourcing’ this is where we get more involved with the business, preparing their books and records, filing their vat returns, running their payroll etc so yeah carrying out office duties. I’ve never seen a practice taking over sales invoices but perhaps that falls under this.
Hope that helps
David
