I sat December session but I failed with 45… I had the feeling to have performed a good work (I studied all the past papers and I have been and auditor for 5 years) … Would it be (in your opinion, please) somehow beneficial to me submit my exam to an administrative review? (although ACCA adopts very good procedures 45 is difficult to digest..)
February 25, 2011 at 7:33 am #79067dear marvin thales i have also same problem i got 48 in advance tax and my performance is more better then which i get. i am going to take admin review.
i dont know it is benificial or not but i give my self a chanceFebruary 25, 2011 at 7:54 am #79068Hi.
The new student accountant magazine showed there were approximately 1219 amininstrative reviews but only 11contained material errors. This is just average
1% rectified.Good luck
February 28, 2011 at 4:47 pm #79069The small percentage of material errors would imply that a review is not worthwhile unless you are really convinced ACCA got it wrong.
August 12, 2014 at 7:21 pm #189713I would just like ask that since i was expecting my score somewhere around 65 and it is my first time to attempt for this paper and i failed with 43 is it recommendable for an administrative review …..
August 13, 2014 at 11:58 am #189855Admin review does not remark and the high degree of automation used by ACCA in script handling means that clerical errors are very unlikely.
August 14, 2014 at 4:24 pm #190110I have my paper reviewed as I got a 29 !!!, they have just replied and stated the 29 is correct. FAILED all 5 questions
I answered all the questions, and was quite positive when I came out of the exam.
I checked the answers a week or two after the exam and again, I felt as if I had done enough.
I did write a couple of answers in table form, would this of had any affect on the marking as I thought it would be ok.
I am absolutely puzzled, and may now have to pay £52 more to appeal.
I need to put my mind at rest as this is absolutely boiling my blood.
Please help, will an appeal have the script re-checked / remarked ?
Thanks
Lee J
August 14, 2014 at 6:48 pm #190132Hi,
Sorry to hear about your disappointing result – made worse when you think you did well and can’t see why you failed.
I’ve asked my colleagues and I’m afraid none of us know what happens during an appeal, eg whether or not the script is remarked. Perhaps you should ask ACCA what you would be getting for your money.
On a practical note, it’s very unlikely that the script was so badly marked that you would gain the 21 marks needed to give you a pass. Markers can, of course, disagree around the margins of a mark, but rarely for more than 1 or 2 marks per script.
Sorry not to be able to be more helpful.
August 14, 2014 at 7:01 pm #190135I was kind of hoping they had not marked 2 or 3 of the questions in error. !!
Would writing answers in tabular form have made any difference.
August 14, 2014 at 7:19 pm #190139Not quite sure what you mean by ‘tabular form’. But it is common if you are asked to, for example, describe a control weakness and then to suggest how to fix it for the answer to be presented in two columns, one for each requirement, but matching across the columns: weakness: fix.
Overly bullet point answers are not popular. It’s not the bullets themselves but rather the one or two words that follow. You can’t explain much in one or two words. Really, you need one or two sentences.
