If a company acquires a target company. Will they have to buy 100% shares? or just above 50% of the shares. in mergers, how much is the ratio of the shares held by target co. and acquiring co.?
Unless you are told different in the question, then an acquisition will mean buying 100% of the shares.
With mergers, there is no rule – it depends on what the two companies agree.
