please what is the correct formulae for calculating Dividend per share
There is no formula for calculating dividend per share! The directors decide how much dividend per share they wish to recommend / propose and the shareholders approve the proposal as part of the ordinary business of the company at the annual general meeting.
If the directors propose a dividend of, say, 4 pence per share then that’s what the dividend per share is! There’s no calculation involved
Ok?
So one cannot be asked to calculate Dividend per share in an exam.?
You could possibly be asked something like “what is the maximum amount of dividend per share that the company could legally pay out?”
I don’t think I have ever seen that question, but it’s possible
If that were asked, you’ll need to calculate the amount of the “distributable profits” and divide that value by the number of equity shares in issue
But, as I’ve just said, I don’t remember seeing it asked
