Hello there, i am applying for practicing certificate to my local institute. The problem is that they wont accept my cpd units from acca tax and law courses as they are not related to audit work. also they wont accept my development/learning activity as a manager in my audit firm as my employer is not an approved acca employer. Anyone knows what should i do? as i see in ACCA cpd earning is very flexible through coaches/mentor/internal training. i need verifiable cpd units in audit work for previous 2 years.

I don’t think it is possible to do verifiable cpd units retrospectively – which is one of the reasons why it is so important to record cpd annually (I recommend using ACCA’s recording tool).
You don’t say what is “local” – but I would have thought that any institute would want new members (a source of fees) so perhaps ask that institute for more guidance on the requirements in this area. Or ask ACCA directly https://forms.accaglobal.com/contact-us
April 19, 2023 at 1:16 pm #683200i dont want to do verified cpd retrospectively. i have a record of cpd but its not relevant to audit work. i would like to ask if the director of the firm could issue additional cpd regarding my development/learning activities at work as i was an audit manager for two years there.

May 30, 2023 at 11:30 am #685461Partway through this year, I moved into a financial controller role in a new company. My experience to date has been solely in an “Approved Employer” when it comes to CPD requirements. So this is the first time I’ve had to complete the standard CPD forms. I can see that there is an option to select “Starting a new Role” as an option. I’ve learned an enormous amount in this role, way more than the 21 hours of verifiable time needed. I’m therefore tempted to fill out the CPD requirements reflecting this. Has anyone else ever done the same and had to verify their experience? If so, did it go smoothly, or was it frowned upon to go about it this way?

I would say that anything relevant to your professional development that is verifiable cannot be “frowned upon”. I have been completing CPD declarations since CPD was first made mandatory (so for a long time!) – on the one occasion that I was selected for a CPD review I gave access to the records I had kept using the online CPD recording tool – so it was a quick and smooth process.
