    I ve written these answers
Pls share if anyone else has the answers too

Regarding the mcqs of vat in sec B,
    do you remember if
1.you have used the fuel scale charge to calculate the output tax

2.and how about the answer for VAT Group i know we dont charge vat for group co but do we issue invoice?

    3. do we consider impairment of bad debts for the sales invoice and discount given ques?

There wee also 2 more mcqs which im unsure of their answers..
    1. one in IHT sec B advantage of life transfers i put taper relief only

    2. and second one in CGT in sec B again, destruction of asset where we were given insurance proceeds, original cost of asset and improvement expenditure..we were told to calculate the allowable base cost and to ignore part disposal

i said he is not a resident, because 2 ties and 100 days (according to the table he needs 3, if hasn’t been resident before and has been in uk for 91-120 days stay) but that might as well be wrong as i literally spent 4 min answering this…..
at first i skipped this part but i had 9 min to spare when i finished with the rest of that question so i decided to give it a go anyway, then spent the other 5 minutes to random choose 3 or 4 answers in MSQs as i didn’t have a clue… let’s hope those were the seeded Qs;-)))
overall it was ok paper.. i have had three so far and this one seemed less difficult…. let’s hope for the best

yeah he had 2 ties thus he became non uk resident given he stayed 100 days in uk

what i found the most bizarre yesterday was the fact that I was the only person sitting that exam in my venue… In fact I was the only one to book this exam for both morning and afternoon session…

Hi there, I have a few questions to please:

What did people put for :

    1) The date the director was entitled to his bonus – Was it the YE date or the date he was entitled the bonus?

    2) What date did people put down for ‘When should he start to charge output tax?’
    3) Was he a UK resident or not ? I put down NON UK RESIDENT DUE TO 3 TIES?
    4) For the ‘How much additional tax does she pay with the rental property’ – Did people work out here income tax liability without the rental income and then work their income tax liability with the rental income?

    Thanks

Is it possible to pass running out of time for both 15 mark questions on section C?

It was the other way around for me. I started with Section C, spent a hell lot of time on it and had to rush in both Section A & Section B.

Section A was a disaster, complete disaster!
    Section B was 50-50.

I really hope i have done enough.

Are these part of the same question?

What did people put on the q asking if the person was resident or not resident in uk in section c, I spent way too much time for the 3 marks he had on it, I changed to not resident at last min as only had 3 ties but now think I was wrong.

Are you referring to “Dinh” question in Section C?

I had so many IHT questions in Section A and B it’s not funny! There were at least 4 in Section A and a whole Section B question it! Why do they examine the same things over and over? Hardly a broad exam based on the scope of the syllabus!

I thought the MCQs were difficult! Spent a while on section C and then had still 18 questions to answer with only an hour to go!

Also, there was one MCQ about group losses – someone help me out!
The question was a drag and drop to where the losses should be offset to which companies. The question read something along the lines of “how much should be offset to company A ORRRR company B” So I put one value against one of the companies but it kept flagging the question as incomplete? So I just put another number in the other company as well for the sake of it, made no sense to me!

Since there are only 4 main topics in that exam, IHT was expected to be one of the B section as well as VAT and CG, and about the MCQs, some might have been part of the seeded Qs…. at least that is what I hope to be the case for every silly MSQ that I can’t answer…

And I also hate IHT, thanks God I didn’t have that much of it…

I thought it was better than expected and was ok time wise. I don’t think text books really covered the 10 mark nic/corporation tax question but had seen similar in past papers. I thought I had a lot of mcq on iht. Pretty confident I passed tho. The director question was regarding fact both bonuses would be taxed in same year if he became a director in May 17 as different rules for director … I think

Bit of a general question I know but can anyone explain how seeded questions work? Are there 5 questions which are consistent across all the exams for them to assess quality control as everyone now does broadly different mcq. How do they assess it? Have heard a few conspiracy theories which I think are a bit suspect and do not believe, so would appreciate a plain English answer. Thanks in advance.

I would love to know that too, i have asked around if someone could possibly explain to me the idea behind this but all I got is either people have no idea what’s that about or I get some vague answer like “to ensure the exam is secure and fair, and equal…”
I have sat 3 CBEs now and from my POV it’s just more questions to answer… i don’t know how is that fair….
    I haven’t heard about the conspiracy theories though… now i’m suspicious…

Yes I do remember few things which I did
1.yes I have take fuel scale charge into consideration , only business use 216*1/6

    2. M not sure about the issuing invoice question

    3. I don’t remember about The impairment loss !

    IHT
1.I opted for the option ‘only 1’

I think taper relief was not the answer cox taper relief can be made in death tax also

2.I just calculated the base cost of the asset wen election was made
    It was a simple calculation
I don’t remember any other twists in that
    Question
    I might be wrong also

I didn’t use the scale charge as it said he reimbursed his private use fuel on the question I had so did 1/6 on what he reimbursed as scale charge is if haven’t reimbursed and both figures were given…
