    It was definitely hard.
7-8 difficult marks in both Section B & Section C.
Section A was terrible. Half of the MCQs were similar to past papers but other half were out of nowhere.
I had no idea about MCQs regarding PAYE and sources of tax law.
    Overall, it was hard.

Can we work on some sort of unofficial markscheme?

Was there a 10 mark question on National insurance contributions? When my exam finished I looked around and saw someone doing (question 36) which seemed to be a 10 mark NIC question that I cant remember doing at all. I don’t understand how this could have happened as the review said all questions were completed:/ Gutted because I’m quite confident and am sure I could have got most or all of the marks on that question.

Could this be a technical error?

I’ve passed other F level papers at first attempt including P4 and P2 but here I am still struggling with F6 because I hate memorizing things!!!!!

0ver 8-10 mcqs or more were dedicated to your ability to recall pure facts and dates!! i think I have failed again after failing in March at 49%. Someone please gimme pointers.. section B question on IHT was painfully difficult as I was confused if the available exemptions would be considered or not. ACCA has a way of structuring the passages to the question.. they didn’t this time.. putting a crucial fact at the bottom that might have been missed when answering the top questions.

Section C question on partnership with losses seemed okay.. But I struggled with the corp. tax. Fingers crossed till July

This exam was a top! It was very easy compared to Yesterday’s F5 which was a disaster, Thank God.
I only started to panic when I notice I was running out of time. I started to get confused about the difference between Chargeable gains , Capital gains and Taxable Gains.

My questions were IHT, Corporate Tax Liabilities , CGT. In fact a lot of the questions are familiar to those I practiced in Kaplan Kit.
I also maked sure I show my calculations, so I know even if the outcome is wrong, the calculation would be right.

CBE questions are never the same. Thus, ur neighbour might get completely different set of questions than to u.

    Hi everyone

I have mix feelings about F6. In section C one of the question was to calculate NIC if we add bonus as dividends and something else- i have no clue how to tackle it? If was for 10 points if someone knows please share.
Also how is that possible that you guys remember youd MCQ questions and answers?! I roughly remember the questions not mentioning if I choose A B or C!

Maria as far as I can remember you had to recalculate both her income liability and nics and then her revised corporation tax and nics then as a company but use the bonus as extra income in the income Comp then

So for herself I had added line in non saving income for the bonus, then another column for the dividend etc

    Completely not sure though!

Is it possible to pass running out of time for both 15 mark questions on section C?

The mcq’s were really kind but I kept triple checking answers I’m sure were right.

Section B was also fine except the vat section, will have dropped marks there.

But I left myself 1 hour 20 mins for sections C and used up 50 mins on the 10 mark question then both 15 mark questions were rushed and messed up. Doubt I scored a single mark there.

Thank you for your answer. Thats is kind of what I did but then in the middle I just doubted I understand the question correctly.

According to my calculation in one case I said the company wont pay NIC as it was below £8164 but if thats correct no idea!

hi guys i found sec A and B relatively easy and im sure i can bring at least 40% from there but i struggled a bit with sec C. It took me some time to figure out how to work out the 10 mark ques and i was left with 30 mins to work out the last two 15 mark questions. Although i have started the corp tax ques, i could not finish it as time was over. I can barely get 5 marks from this ques. My question is can acca fail me if i score only 15% out of the 40% in sec C and i score 40 % out of 60% from mcqs?? Please answer

What did people put on the q asking if the person was resident or not resident in uk in section c, I spent way too much time for the 3 marks he had on it, I changed to not resident at last min as only had 3 ties but now think I was wrong.

thats correct, the company doesn’t have to pay any additional NIC as there is no new income for Kaya (i think was her name). In that case there is only more divident paid, so no change in NIC

You’ll pass F5 if you understand why you’re making the calculation rather just because you’ve memorized a rule. Understand WHY first.. for examle, A reduced cost is obviously a positive variance while reduced sales is not.

Mix variance is about the appropriate quantity, over or below this could obviously leadsl to poor quality hence why variance calculation is needed because some materials will have been overused while the other underused leading to negative and positive variance respectively.

Passing F5 is fair if you understand WHY you’re doing the calcuation compared to memorizing a bunch of rules

i said he is not a resident, because 2 ties and 100 days (according to the table he needs 3, if hasn’t been resident before and has been in uk for 91-120 days stay) but that might as well be wrong as i literally spent 4 min answering this…..
at first i skipped this part but i had 9 min to spare when i finished with the rest of that question so i decided to give it a go anyway, then spent the other 5 minutes to random choose 3 or 4 answers in MSQs as i didn’t have a clue… let’s hope those were the seeded Qs;-)))
overall it was ok paper.. i have had three so far and this one seemed less difficult…. let’s hope for the best
