I passed PM with exactly 50% after sitting it for the third time. Without John Moffat and his notes and lectures and the BPP books, I don’t know if I could pull it off all by myself. Thank you Allah, and John, for everything.
October 19, 2020 at 1:49 pm #590484Hi. I scored 75% for this exam in September session so I will share my way of studying. Though everyone has their own style.
I study from Kaplan text book. Read every chapter carefully and make notes while reading. My speed is one chapter a day. If in the middle/ end of a book i realize i dont have a well rounded picture of the content i have studied so far, i go back to the beginning and read all chapters again and take more structured notes.
For this exam I read all articles on acca website as well which helped me understand what is expected of me. Because I did not like studying for it at all. Once i am done with reading a text book and doing excercise in text book i start exam kit (couple weeks before exam). And i do every multichoice question without looking at my notes and then C section as much as i can but never manage all of it. Also i did one timed mock exam on acca website. The result – i found C section messy in exam however I had 2 hours left for it as I did the first two parts in 1 hour.October 19, 2020 at 2:11 pm #590493First time passed with 66%. Thank you John Moffat!
I have to say the exam was awful, badly written etc etc. For those who did not pass please don’t give up, I believe next time It wont be as tricky as this one.
I studied more than in any other exam: Open tuition lectures, some exercises of BPP workbook and all the exercises of BPP revision kit. I did all passed papers on the ACCA website and read all the articles. Still I dont think I have ever seen something as complicated as the PM exam Sep 20.
October 19, 2020 at 2:17 pm #590497To all those who are grateful to Open tuition I would like to encourage you to donate. I just cant imagine what I would do without them!
October 19, 2020 at 3:34 pm #590525Gutted, failed for the second time! Have already signed up for AA & FR for December so need to put it to the back of my mind now until the new year. Confidence is well and truly shattered
October 19, 2020 at 3:40 pm #590528I passed on first attempt with 60% – cannot thank you enough John!
Self study using OT lectures and notes, Kaplan text and practice kit, and BPP practice kit.October 19, 2020 at 5:05 pm #590547Pass 62%, this was my second attempt. I got 44% the first time.
October 19, 2020 at 10:52 pm #590644Please keep trying I failed at 49 in March. Passed with 50 this time by Grace. It was actually my 4th time.
Don’t get tired as you get closer to passing anytime you rewrite. Your story will be amazing.October 20, 2020 at 2:21 am #590666Thank you for the video lectures, it benefited me alot passed pm exam in my first attempt!!!

October 20, 2020 at 7:30 am #590689Hello, got 40% on my first attempt, the way paper was tough but still i had some hopes but couldnt finish section C last question. I used opentuition, kaplan n bpp also but still its tough this paper to pass. Any ideas or study techniques to pass in my second attempt please share. Thank you.
October 20, 2020 at 8:26 am #590695I did not write in September, I am writing in December and this is my 4th attempt having been failing with 48 and 49. any tip I no longer have courage to study. Tips will be welcome
October 20, 2020 at 8:58 am #590687First sitting and passed with 82%! Although I liked studying PM, I didn’t expect such a score, because everyone was telling me it’s easy to learn but hard to pass. Also questions can be very tricky and you need to read everything very carefully (for example I calculated contribution VARIANCE at the beginning and then read the question and realised it is PROFIT variance, so got stressed and had to change it). My study technique was maybe time consuming but simple: lectures, then study text, then questions from that chapter ( from Kaplan exam kit) . When I went through all chapters, I did second exam kit from Bpp. (I was jumping from questions from one chapter to another to make sure I don’t forget anything with time) As I was going through questions I was marking the ones I had a lot of problems with and I came back to them in last 2 weeks before the exam. At the very end I did 4 mock exams – 2 on the paper and 2 on the computer, and I think it’s very important to practice computer based exam at least once to see how it looks like, and how to show your answeres in section C. Now I want to attempt FR in March, but I’m afraid it will be more difficult for me.
October 20, 2020 at 7:15 pm #590841I failed my first attempt – 42% 🙁 I found the questions pretty impossible to interpret. Need a new way of attempting this exam. Also ran out of time. I have rebooked for December but not feeling very confident. I am using BPP content and notes but just seems the questions in the lectures are nothing like what I saw in Sept PM exam.
October 21, 2020 at 4:50 am #590904Thankyou sir, I passed the exam with 56%
October 21, 2020 at 7:46 am #590922Thank you Mr John! The best lecturer ever! Did not even read the text book. Just opentuition notes, videos and revision kit examples. And scored 65 in the first attempt!
October 26, 2020 at 9:56 am #593143Passed first time with 56%. Really struggled with this topic though.
My tip – do as many practice questions as you can, rather than just read and read.
And once you’ve done them, do them again.
Exam question practice is the key to this exam.
Good luck!October 30, 2020 at 2:45 pm #593545Hi Open Tuition, i used your videos to prepare for my Zambian local chatered accountancy Management Accounting exams. i passed. 50%. Thank you !!!!!!
