Hi, i wanted to know which professional papers should i choose to became a financial controller?
tnxs
P5 and P7. It’s not like they make you financial controller but they are the closest amongst all other.
Being in the position myself, I would suggest P4 and maybe P5, I took P6, which has its own benefits in the role, but looking back, i think P5 would have been better
I agree in some ways with P7 as Seagoat suggests, as you will need to ensure everything is of audit standard, but I have got by OK with my F8 knowledge
It might depend on the environment you are looking at working in too, and FC in smaller firm would need a wider range of knowledge than in a multinational
I agree it really depends to industry / corporate you will be working in and size of business.
I suggested P7 because as fin. controller you will probably have to deal with auditors – so it is good to understand their point of view.
Budgeting, forecasting, monthly reporting, consolidations (monthly, yearly) – quite big firm in heavy industry – im not fin. controller myself but those are main duties.
Financial Controller is broad term – I would say MS Excel / Data bases / VBA is more important for Fin Controller than P papers.
