Just noticed that you tried to do this in 10 days, did you do the 10 hours every day?
March 4, 2020 at 2:44 pm #564144The paper was fair though time is always a constraint. I pray not only for myself but to all who did this exam to pass it!

Hi,Mean to add a question on my previous post. Did anyone start with Section C rather than natural order of A&B. If so do you think it helped with time management?
Regards
CraigThis definitely helps with time management. I did it that way and finished with an hour to spare

Since time restriction seems to be a problem I will say that I think more time should be allocated per mark to section CI did TX-UK yesterday and PM today (FM tomorrow) and I took
much less time than allocated for section A,
section B took just less than the allocated time
Section C on both exams needed more time per mark.I think this is mainly because you have to read more information and then it is difficult knowing exactly how much to write to get the marks.
For example if it says (8 marks) then I would want to put 12 things in there in case some of them were not what was looked for.I think I took 35 minutes for section A on both exams and finished both exams on time (could have done with 10 minutes extra to check answers today though). Doing loads of practice questions for section A makes them faster as there are patterns to what they ask and the way they ask them.
TX paper I found pretty difficult although I probably passed, there is a lot to remember in TX. PM I found easier and less to revise.
I don’t want to take them again! 😀
I wrote the same subjects as you did. I felt that Tx-UK went much better than PM did today

Good Luck!
March 5, 2020 at 12:07 pm #564371I had that one. I said that only she got the bonus but all the other taxable benefits were far larger for him.
I had another which asked to split investment income 50:50 rather than taxed as it was. Which lost PA and dividend nil rate band, this question seemed so simple I think that I may have missed something.
My third was a corporation ceasing to trade.
My main problem was the spreadsheet app. I’m still not sure if mine was broken. My view was only 1 or possibly 2 inches deep and it wasn’t possible to scroll it up and take the question off the screen. Nightmare.
March 5, 2020 at 12:08 pm #564372I would have but the exam wouldn’t let me skip about. Kept insisting that I was stuck where I was unless I scroll barred everything. Very time consuming.
March 5, 2020 at 8:46 pm #564467I agree hand written exam was more user friendly.

I had the same questions and that’s the only adjustments I made on the investment/property income.
I’ve done multiple exams with the irritating small window. You can drag split in the window to enlarge the “Excel” type screen but ideally you need a widescreen type monitor to use it properly.
March 7, 2020 at 12:28 am #564726When calculating car benefit for the employee we have to restrict the employee contribution to buying the car to a max of 5000 right? But the monthly payment to employer for using the car we deduct separately. Could someone please clarify is it the case. The employee contribution is limited to 5000 when buying the car and that’s separate from monthly payments for using it right so we take both if I’m not mistaken
March 7, 2020 at 12:31 am #564727Also in the MCQs if the transfer of a intra company in a chargeable gains group the transfer is done at no gain no loss right? So the answer to the question is 450000-150000 = 300000 I suppose
March 7, 2020 at 1:06 am #564730Time management has only become an issue for me since CBEs! Imagine taking a taxation exams and needing to split the screen in 3 in the long 15/10 mark questions when you have a 14inch screen on your test centre? I’ve done more complex subjects in university and had problem since they were paper exams
March 10, 2020 at 3:19 pm #565043I started with section C then A and lastly section B.
It was advantageous as i felt confident that section C was completed. Still you never know markers. Hope for best.
