Apologies for the question mark. Was supposed to be a thumbs up.
Fingers crossed whatever I wrote earns me enough to pass… It was a very stressful and heavy paper.
September 9, 2020 at 9:01 am #584309I am sure it will, don’t worry too much 🙂
September 9, 2020 at 9:03 am #584311Yes my computer stopped working after about 3.3 hours and they had to put me on another one. They re-started it before I got to the computer so I lost time because of it.
September 9, 2020 at 9:13 am #584314As long as it is logical and it makes sense it doesn’t really matter. Remember you don’t get any marks for just applying the model, it is how you write your answer. The model can obviously help you write a better answer through structure but it is not necessary.
I didn’t use PESTLE on the external environment question however I think it would have made sense to.
I structured mine by risk headings for example; expectation gap between public and charity services; young people giving less; regulatory changes and risks etc. It made more sense to me to do it that way.
September 9, 2020 at 9:56 am #584326I was careful not to mention same issue in the same question, but I felt my answers contained some overlap, they had references to staff management and economic conditions
September 9, 2020 at 10:10 am #584330I’m sorry to hear that – it is horrible.
Can I ask, did it actually say you’d reached your character limit or was it something else?
September 9, 2020 at 10:11 am #584331I don’t know which exams the other people in the venue I sat in did but the exam invigilator said at the start that there was several different finish times for the students so this time as soon as anyone was done with their exam they could raise their hand and was allowed to leave. No one had to stay the full exam time as we usually have to.
Didn’t bother me at all since people left one by one.
September 9, 2020 at 11:22 am #584341We had in Machester Tax people as well. It was very a loud leaving and annoyed me very much! Exactly, we paid £200 for the exam and distructions were happening… Cost saving… less paying for room renting…
September 9, 2020 at 11:26 am #584342On charity I used pestel, as 5 Fources would be very corporate view – charity do not really having kind of bargaining powers of buyers and suppliers… That is my logic.
But i suppose as long it is clear and logical, should be fine.
September 9, 2020 at 11:56 am #584353Bargaining power of suppliers was high – mentioned in case study they had one supplier.
Power of customers high also, they can donate to a myriad of charities.
Also said ‘comp forces’ in q, think they where referring to the 5 forces but I could be wrong
September 9, 2020 at 12:05 pm #584356Bargaining power of suppliers was high – mentioned in case study they had one supplier.
Power of customers high also, they can donate to a myriad of charities.
Threat of sub’s – doing own charity work, donating to other causes etc
Threat of new entrants – government encouraging new entrants as recession
Competitive rivalry – loads of charities closed so moderate, but will increase with new initiatives from government
Also said ‘comp forces’ in q, think they where referring to the 5 forces but I could be wrong
September 9, 2020 at 12:14 pm #584357Yes, I also used five forces, but PESTEL might work well too.
September 9, 2020 at 1:34 pm #584378Everyone should complain about it and email ACCA to make them aware about it because the fees are not being reviewed but the technical issues with the practice platform, technical issues during the exams, the horrible conditions in the exam centers and I can’t see anyone at all complaining everyone carry on like as usual.
September 9, 2020 at 2:23 pm #584352Mentioned that they only had one supplier with problems in case study so power of suppliers is high.
Power of buyers is high, they can donate to a myriad of causes.
And it said ‘competitive forces’ is question, think they where referring to the 5 forces boss but maybe I’m wrong
September 9, 2020 at 3:44 pm #584405can someone post the answers of each of the requirement asked?
the exam was ok i think. but it was 10000% unexpected as an NPO……………..coming in SBL is really a horror for me.
September 9, 2020 at 7:45 pm #584512I thought the two collaboration opportunities were partnership with the private sector and partnership with another charity that was mentioned in one of the exhibits?
September 9, 2020 at 10:05 pm #584544Honestly, havent noticed at all people leaving. Maybe because I had a lucky number – 69 (total end of site and in the corner). Been in this situation many times, think dealt well.
September 9, 2020 at 11:32 pm #584553Q1
I spoke about the main purpose of the charity. E.g. Founder as owner.
I wrote what the board objectives are for two-tier structure.
I wrote the actual mission and vision and how it impacts the volunteers and customers.
I cannot remember a report but I did ratios solely with comments.
Q2
I use threats and opportunities some of which you stated.
I use Social Media, Mobile and Website. Notes: E-marketing, Big Data and Marketing
Q3
I use the risk in the register and explain the impact and likelihood. And TARA framework.
Q4
I spoke about Diversity and Skills in response to newspaper article weaknesses.
CPD for the relevant board members addressing errors in newspapers.
4th attempt
??September 10, 2020 at 2:38 am #584568For the first question the agency relationship I stated that the government is principle and the charitable organisation is the agent as the organisation takes the directions from the govt to run the company. For the stakeholder question my points were -as the organization is consuming resources for future generation and working environmentally it would effect the employee as less pollution and harm would be cause to the environment resulting in good health for employees. -Due to company giving training education programme to the employees and visitors this would allow them to gain knowledge about how to be sustainable and in future if they open up there company they would work environmental friendly leading to good reputation for the company. -as the organisation is environmental friendly this would allow investors to invest in company due to good reputation and stakeholders to recieve dividends. -due to organsation working environmental friendly this would put less pressure on environmental pressure groups of keeping the environment safe. -For the competitive force I used 5 forces and porter diamond. for bargaining power of customer I wrote that the bargaining power of customer would be low since it is a charitable organisation run by govt (public sector) so the customers can’t bargain. -The bargaining of suppler was high because less supplier -threat of new entrant the govt could allow an charitable organisation to establish its organisation within the company. However for now there is no threat. And is an new entrants enters then strategies could be used such as patent rights, exit cost etc. -competitive rivalry would be the charitable organisation is other developed countries. For the collaboration question I did merger/acqusition and partnership. Can anyone tell me if my points are correct ?
September 10, 2020 at 9:16 am #584608I can’t really remember. There was an error message and the screen just stop and I had an error message but didn’t bother reading it. I just put my hand up and told them. They moved me to a new computer. I am not sure there is a character limit though so don’t worry. I am not sure how much you write for this but I reckon I write between 4,000-5,000 words based on my mocks which with counting characters would be much higher so I think you are going to be fine and they won’t be missing any of your work. I think also their back-up systems are pretty good. When they restarted another computer for me they had all my work and nothing was missing.
September 10, 2020 at 9:19 am #584610Yeah agreed but I always bring ear plugs because I get distracted very easily. I did have people finishing at different times but because of the ear plugs I heard nothing.
