Anyone remembers the mcq question in which they asked who should be appointed to audit committee and a list of NED’s were given .I found the mcq’s really confusing wasted much of time in it!
Yeah i wasted quite some time in the MCQs too… Been decisive on some of the options was something i struggled with lol
September 4, 2018 at 4:07 pm #471356Same here! I just randomly picked them went totally blank with the mcq’s
September 4, 2018 at 5:07 pm #471367@nimfa2005 next time you go for CBE exams always ask for earplugs and put them in immediately before the exam starts!!! It will block out every noise and allow you to focus better
September 4, 2018 at 5:10 pm #471368@Nicole a disclaimer of opinion will be for insufficient evidence but the question didn’t say so I think
September 4, 2018 at 5:22 pm #471372Substantive procedures was worth 25% or more on this paper and I felt like I was repeating myself but I was able to finish the paper. I prepared for corporate governance so was glad it about that! Didn’t expect ratio analysis but I previously just finished F7 so fresh on my mind. I was surprised that they were no ETHICS questions
September 4, 2018 at 5:29 pm #471375Sounds really scary, I am sitting Audit this Dec:/

September 4, 2018 at 7:40 pm #471407Guys, once the exam started, please get the earplug straightaway for invigilator and plug in, it will isolate from everything and help u succeed on your exam. This is what I do during the AA exam, cheers.

How many questions were after substantantive tests for cash? Didn’t get further, just thinking how many marks I lost.
Is it only me who is finding that Cbe is very noisy, one person started from typing and that’s all, couldn’t concentrate as it was very loud and very fast typing, was rereading and rereading… Is it only me whom is easy to distract.its like youre speaking my mind.
September 4, 2018 at 10:49 pm #471462This was my first attempt at AA, and unfortunately went horrible. Im pretty sure i’ll be reappearing. went totally blank for the most part, specially for substantive procedures. very dissapointed in my self. Up until now, cleared all my acca exams first attempt, so really is disheartening to say the least.
sorry for the rant, im still very motivated and started studying for the december attempt.September 5, 2018 at 8:13 am #471519If anyone did paper based exam, can you please tell me the main areas covered in the exam?
September 5, 2018 at 10:49 am #471549Lots of volume in the paper, section B was three scenarios testing mainly: Controls, Substantive Procedures then Audit Risks.
I like others was a bit shocked when I had 40 mins remaining in the exam and a full section B question to start.
Anyone doing exam practice, do practice to time, it’s a killer.
September 5, 2018 at 5:08 pm #471635I felt that I had no time to think If I forgot anything or time to try to remember.
At the begining I struggled with the MCQ because I was confused what answer to choose.
When I was reading the question, I knew the answer but when I decided to choose, I was lost!! I felt like ok the right answer is d or no it is b, and I had to choose. so I always ended up eliminating two choices and confused with the other two.actully i feel that i may lose most of the marks on MCQ.
The Risk question was good as they asked about ratios and 8 risks to describe and I feel here I did ok but the problem that this question took from me an hour to complete or may be more with the other c and d questions.
I missed up the control question. I needed to identify 8 defciency .. I was able to identify the control deficiency but was not able to identify why it is defieciency and I have tried to write anything in the auditor response which I know it could be irrelative.
The last question I had only 20 minute to do. I was like writing very fast and I had no time to think at all as they were 4 questions on sunstantive procedure and audit report so I answered the 4 but I do not know whether I will get the maximum marks available or not because I was not descriptive and not very specified to the case.
Overall the exam was very long and I do not know if I’m going to pass or not 🙁
September 6, 2018 at 6:47 am #471765Why can’t they just make the format like the other F exams, it takes too much time and you just don’t know when to stop typing/writing coz you need to give them what they’re looking for. I hope I pass this one, it is too boring to study and just annoying to solve.

September 6, 2018 at 11:49 am #471816Star Wars reference in F8/AA exam. NEET!
September 6, 2018 at 6:14 pm #471919I also wrote the paper based exams in 2016, and failed the paper 44%, but the CBE seems to be better, in the light of my hand writing.

OMG you had the same experience as me!Sorry, did you respond to my post or Jongwon ?
September 11, 2018 at 1:30 pm #472636Having Sat P7 over a year ago and passed very easily, anyone who says an exam is not about exam technique needs to have their head examined. It is 100% about exam technique.
Look at the requirements before doing anything. They are telling you what you have to do and how much time you need to spend on each part.
It is also telling you how to structure your answer and how much time you should be spending on each part of the question.
I have read the thread and the number of people who spent so much time on Q1 is really quite shocking. There really is no excuse for not answering all questions and parts.
I’m sorry to say this but anyone who doesn’t agree with this or feels the exam is unfairly wrong, you need to take a look at yourself.
And fundamentally P7 is knowing your accounting standards, to prepare for p7 do out a short summary of the key points to each standard and learn it off. You will not pass the exam without knowing your accounting standards. It is assumed knowledge. (P2)
Best of luck, it really can be done, Do people not look at the examiner comments which are released after the results?
I would also say that anyone who feels its not like real life and not what auditing is about. Do you realise it is an exam?
Best of luck all, it’s not meant to be easy, but the benefits are worth the effort…
September 11, 2018 at 1:31 pm #472637exam technique, exam technique !!!! know your standards, read the requirements before doing anything and it isnt that bad. The examiner is telling you what they want. Don’t let this forum scare you.
from one of the examiners: ” use sensible exam technique on the day of the exam are very likely to secure a pass”. – the exam is 100% exam technique.
September 11, 2018 at 9:54 pm #473553@irldaniel This is F8/AA forum; most of us haven’t got to P7 yet, but if or when we do, we’ll master the exam technique, promise
