This is my second attempt after failing with 48% last time. I find the time pressure really hard and trying to get what’s in my head into paper in a methodical articulate way seems to be my greatest challenge !
I spent far too long on question 1. Answered most of the other questions other than the integrated report question in section 1 which I’ve just remembered I missed completely !
Happy with the fraudulent and wrongful trading question. Not that confident that I answered with the detail required for the professional papers. Happy that I put some decent points about ethics and professionalism but got in a muddle when thinking about audit risk in question 1. Carried out some ratio calcs but the main issues all seemed to be relating to the goodwill issue/acquisition of lynx .
I also wasn’t sure if the opinion for question 2, where the adjustments were incorrect would end up being a disclaimer of opinion or modified opinion ‘except for’ type opinion.
September 3, 2018 at 7:24 pm #471117Who ever wrote AA is ridiculous!
There is no way someone could actually finish all the questions within the time frame without pressure.I had questions about control deficiencies cash collection process (the tekst were so much I had brain freeze and heavy migraine after the exam.
Had questions about:
– inventory substantive procedures
– AR substantive procedures
– alotttt of Corporate Governance questions. E.g why should auditors continuously report to corporate governance
– etcSeptember 3, 2018 at 8:30 pm #471128How many questions were after substantantive tests for cash? Didn’t get further, just thinking how many marks I lost.
Is it only me who is finding that Cbe is very noisy, one person started from typing and that’s all, couldn’t concentrate as it was very loud and very fast typing, was rereading and rereading… Is it only me whom is easy to distract.September 3, 2018 at 8:45 pm #471131Mate! YES! But you get used to it when you start typing, the invigilators did it for me! They kept talking amongst themselves sooo distracting!
September 3, 2018 at 8:46 pm #471133I finished the questions but that’s because I mind blanked on most of the substantive test questions. ><
September 3, 2018 at 8:54 pm #471134The place I sat it had a pair of ear plugs on each desk, I was quite impressed. It was only a minute thing but they were a godsend. I am used to loud typing as I use mechanical keyboard at home which makes a loud yet satisfying click. The fan that was on behind me would have irritated me no end if it weren’t for those plugs. Defo a good thing to take next time. Not sure why I hadn’t thought of it before. Deffo taking my decent plugs to the next exam.
September 3, 2018 at 9:32 pm #471138I had the same questions. MCQ were quite ok (many corporate governance) and the audit risk and answer part was right. I was trouble in CASH/bank control defficiencies (practised during the revision many type but cash not), but wrote some. Substantive testing was for around 15-20 points If I remember well. I am very courious for the results 🙂
September 3, 2018 at 9:37 pm #471139Totally understand.
That was a problem only one person started with B questions when others were doing A part. So it was only one person typing so loud and so fast… so you couldn’t concentrate on the question. Was thinking to go to part B than but imagined everyone will be typing by the time I will go to part A so I will have no chance. Will take earplugs next time. Good idea!September 4, 2018 at 12:22 am #471152@opeyemiogunjimi said:

– etcI think I had the same variant as you did! It was hard.
Does anyone know whether extra 10 marks that are going to be excluded were in multiple choice questions? There are in total 110 marks and 10 will be excluded for quality assurance process..
I noticed there were 4 scenarios, 5 questions with 2 marks for each question = 40 marks whereas it used it be in paper exam 30 marks. Long questions stayed the same 30, 20 and 20 marks. Does it mean they will exclude 10 marks from multiple choice questions?
Will be a shame because they were quite straightforward compared to constructed questionsSeptember 4, 2018 at 4:27 am #471174I had the same questions too. I found it very hard to answer everything for that time… there was so much to read in every question… i don’t know how anyone could manage to answer all the questions properly for 3 h
About the MCQ, yes, there were 4 mini cases but only 3 of them earn you marks. The fourth one ( noone knows which one) is the”seeded” content that is put there for “qualyty” (whatever that means…..)September 4, 2018 at 4:33 am #471175@opeyemiogunjimi said:

September 4, 2018 at 6:44 am #471181The final one is about the going concern problem when it is adequate and inadequate.
For the adequate I have done well, but inadequate section I wrote ‘adverse opinion’ but it is just emphasis of matter paragraph…
I lost some marksT_T“””If the financial statements are prepared on any other basis other than going concern, even if that basis is appropriate, the auditor will refer to it in their report in an ‘emphasis of
matter’ paragraph”””September 4, 2018 at 8:54 am #471222The invigilators drove me insane, one guy went to toilet and came back and his exam was gone, so had to cope with stressed invigilators next to me muttering!
Also found that I had about an hour left at the end, as the questions I didn’t know I just guessed with bullet points that may or may not be worth a mark!
Seemed to be so many questions on substantive procedures, I felt like I was repeating myself over and over again.
Corporate governance question with parts i) and ii), I left blank!September 4, 2018 at 9:38 am #471231Deos anyone has MCQs answers? I do not remember exact details of the question, but took MCQS answers. Please see my answers below, and let me know if they match with yours:

September 4, 2018 at 10:37 am #471259LOL I yesterday was my second attempt after failing with a 49% in June cause I didn’t finish the exam. I spent a whole month working on my exam technique and time management. I finished answering all the questions yesterday. The paper wasn’t easy but I did my best.
September 4, 2018 at 10:37 am #471260Anyone remembers the mcq question in which they asked who should be appointed to audit committee and a list of NED’s were given .
I found the mcq’s really confusing wasted much of time in it!
