Multiple choice was a disaster but found section b relatively easy. Think they were kind to us 🙂

I thought it was quite a fair exam, although Section A had a lot of ‘multiple response’ questions, which I always find unfair as one wrong part and you’re back to zero!

My Section B questions were on internal control deficiencies for Yangtze Co (I think?), substantive procedures for a bread-making company (got a bit stuck on how to explain procedures re: the unsellable bread), and audit risks with Mekong Co. Also got a question on explaining potential threats and safeguards. Theoretical questions were on internal vs external audit, and the audit strategy/ plan. All-in-all not too bad, but I’ve seen many times that people score less on AA than they were expecting, so I’ll wait until mid-July…

Hope everyone else’s exam went well 🙂

I thought it was a relatively straight forward exam, my issue was timing, I was running late in the exam and did not realise at the 10 minute mark I had two questions remaining. A 4 mark and a 16 mark!!!!!

I managed to blitz half of the 16 mark question before running out of time. Big shame because I knew how to answer it.

I’ve never run out of time in an exam before now.

    Oh well, there’s always September!

I agree. Multiply was a bit unfair. One wrong and no points. I was able to manage b part. But did not have to check section a. Well as RyanB says. There is always September. But I did not sleep this night at all.

Section A was annoying difficult but B was quite fair and possibly easy.

My section B had Key audit matter- this question has not been asked in past papers

Also, I had substantive procedures on land & buildings and Plant & machinery.

Section A- I have no idea. They strick you so badly.

    Anyways lets see what happens..

Hi everyone. Just came back from the exam center, gave AA. How did the AA exam go for everyone.?
Honestly it was really a very easy exam, Sectio B basic internal controls, subtantive procedures audit risks and receivables allowance not recorded hence impact on opinion. Many very similar to past papers. Knowledge based CR regarding Control Objectives and Engagement letter purpose and importance for audit. I had Paisley, Cordley and Intercrosse companies.
Section A however was a mixture. Some easy mcqs some confusing. Mostly on Corporate governance, substantive procedures and internal controls and this and that.

Good luck for future candidates, make sure you have a good grip on all portions and are able to tailor as per scenario.

    Disaster to say the least!
MTQs, man…. where did they found those?
Literally they were far far away from the questions we practise in revision kit.

Section B was also difficult. However if one had started Section B first or at least kept themselves calm and composed after dealing with Section A (too much to ask for!), they would have felt it slightly easier.

I guess KAM was tested for the first time cause i hadn’t seen any questions in Kaplan kit. Similarly, substantive procedures when there’s a provision and the amount is possible to be recovered from supplier really confused.

    I might have failed it.

Sounds like you and I pretty much had the same section B.

Really unsure how mine went. 4th attempt and felt the most confident….and nothing i thought would come up did, ha!

Started section B first, then had to rush section A as it was a lot trickier than I’ve seen before! Ran out of time with B, so definitely lost 19 marks! Annoying I think because I felt more confident, i wrote more, therefore ran out of time!

Really hoping for a pass this time, can’t be dealing with any more teasing from my ex-auditor boss!!

Mine was mostly ok, though slightly forgot what is appropriate for audit risk responses. Basically suddenly felt like I was being too detailed like I was almost giving substansive procedures… but then when I considered going more general I couldn’t think of anything other than things like…”extra focus/testing on this”.

@Dimple : Sounds like we had the same paper. I don’t think that I was thorough enough for my substantive procedures. That’s a topic I really dislike…..Hoping that I at least scrape the 50 mark. Second attempt. Section A was difficult. Was only positive about 2 or 3 questions. Sucks!! Was looking forward for at least 10 of the 15 positive answers.

This question completely stumped me! Had a guess at the date the audit work was completed but it was just a guess.

Also forgot some of the items within the Audit Strategy, and struggled to come up with 2 of the 4 procedures required for testing the Completness of a Payables balance, but other than that I think the exam went OK.

    Good luck everyone.

I think I put the same date as the financial statements were issued, 30th October.
Not sure if that’s correct or not.

the paper was just fine.the problem was the timing .and yeah section A was a bit challenging. i wonder why ACCA does not add the copy and paste function in the AA exam cause those audit risk and deficiencies questions are time consuming.

Hey guys I hope it went well! (or at least as well as it could go)

I was wondering if anyone knew how to request mitigating circumstances on MyACCA? To keep it short, my work didn’t automatically save when I went to the toilet because of technical issues. The invigilator advised me to send a mitigating circumstances complaint through MyACCA but I can’t seem to find this under the “Exams” section.

You can make a mitigation claim after the results are released. I suppose.

Thought the paper was ok, usual mix of easy marks and some made you wonder what was actually being asked for.

Had the Technical problems too, invigilator locked my system while I popped to the bathroom and then couldn’t unlock it, had to sit outside for 15 mins while he ran around phoning the exam team/ACCA for help. Had the time added back on but it wasn’t easy sitting back down and getting in the zone for the last hour.

Call ACCA and ask them. I had to do it before but can’t remember how of the top of my head. But u can do it as soon as you have had your exam!

The same thing happened with me!! Although it was only for 3 minutes or so, so I didn’t do anything about it…I went to the toilet and when I came back the lady kept slowly putting the wrong password in, it was so frustrating (especially when you know you’re against the clock). 3 minutes ends up feeling like an hour…

There were also wider technical issues which meant the exam started 30 minutes late – no communication about what was going on, all of us just staring at our screens and wondering why nothing was coming up. I’ll be trying to avoid the Holloway Road exam centre in future!
