Hi kayann, huge congrats on passing this paper. I’m after failing my 3rd attempt ….would you let me know exactly what way you approached study for this? Areas you really concentrated on?

    Any help would be great.

Guys! My advise is that while attempting the paper, always concentrate on 3-6 marks questions which are mostly part b or c of each question. We all spend more time on 8-26 mark question and only write few lines for these small parts. You can score highest marks in small questions of 3-6 marks which are very simple to attempt.

I totally disagree with your approach; its vital to concentrate on the long questions as you can pick up comparatively more marks! That being said, it goes without saying you should complete all questions. I scored 90 marks and finished the paper 20 minutes early, so this is not un-achievable.

My other advice would be to heavily revise the P2 ISA’s, as these form the basis how you’ll answer question 1 and other parts of the paper.

    P2 – 50
    P7 – 46 :/

I’m more confident in P7 than P2. I don’t know why I fail as I’m quite confident that I would pass. This make me more confident after reviewing examiner’s answer, I wrote quite a lot of points as what examiner suggested in the model answer.

Anyway, I will try again in September. Hope the 2 new standards do not came out in this immediate September sittings, as IFRS 9 and IFRS 15 are both not easy!

    Pass 63%… ACCA Affiliate..

    Simple exams technique..
    (1) Summarize your understanding of each chapter and keep reading it every day. (Read it on the bus or during lunch time or before going to bed)
    (2) When practising exams questions, read the examiner’s answers and summarize the steps or way the answer is written e.g calculate Materiality, talk about figures, why is it material ect.. by practising questions you will definitely learn the technique.
    (3) Use the same step guide in exams to answer questions and a pass will be guaranteed.

That’s how I passed all my exams..

Passed 54%, am now affiliate, and all first time passes!

I balls-ed up the first part of Q1, so missed out 6 quite easy marks there, so would have had a much more comfortable pass if I’d done that properly…oh well a pass is a pass.
