I pass with 51 percent on my third attempt and now an affiliate by GOD grace :).
After having failed twice I realised that I was using wrong approach even after memorizing whole of bpp text I failed so this tym around I went through kaplan kit and kaplan text and online resources and passed so effectively I went through two texts two kits all the articles past papers etc etc to obtain 51 😀 and by the way I did all this with having a full time job with a very arrogant boss not giving me holiday for exams so I used to take out tym to study during travelling to and froAugust 9, 2014 at 7:44 am #188788Pass 2nd attempt, Thank you Lord, thanks Open Tuition, Thanks David Powell (DPTC in Jamaica)
one to go P4Congrats to those who were successful, for those who were not don’t give up, I know the feeling.
Rubik,Richard,Kerry mag,Abdul and others who failed,in February when I failed I took Kasonde12 advice (thanks Kasonde12) I want to share them with you.
Do not re-read the study text, it is a waste of time especially if you are a borderline fail (only if there are a few weak topics, re-read that chapter, this should be completed by September).
Get an updated Exam kit (I use BPP) practice a lot of exam questions, (each one twice if possible) ensure you time yourself, especially the last 6 weeks before exam. Be discipline, don’t just read the answers, attempt the questions first, then make notes from the answers.
Know your Accounting Standards (very important) after practicing a lot of questions you would have covered most of them.
Ethics is very important (read examiner’s feed back and technical articles)
Audit report will always be tested be prepared for all types of questions (see Exam
technique video)Watch exam technique video on Audit and Business Risk (by John Glover) it is for F8 but it is very good.
Read all the technical articles (they are short and to the point)
Risk and audit procedures ( in the planning stage, during and review stage)
Finally in Exam don’t panic, remember you would have already practice questions under exam conditions. speed and space as Kasonde12 would say, and the required format, don’t give up your professional marks (if the examiner ask for briefing notes ensure you present in that format, remember your introduction and conclusion.
Be confident I know you will pass the next time.
All the best.
Any tips on how to prepare for P4?

First of all I would like to thank God and his son Jesus Christ for helping me to become an affiliate! So happy.
Few tips to pass:
I have never worked as auditor and sat the exam 4 times in order to pass it. Each time i studied only 2 weeks (on average I studied 10 hours per day…)
What made the difference this time?
1. TIME MANAGEMENT. It was the first time attempting all topics. 1.8 minutes per mark. I know it is difficult to leave a question not finished (did it three times and fail).
2. Read examiner’s comments
3. Take a paper and write all topics examined the last 8 sittings and then you will understand what is comming next (for example I predicted the Forecast and the Money laundering for this sitting) – Always expect Consolidation so read it very well + Audit Risks, don’t forget to mention over and under provisionThe above gave me 60%

Does anyone know where its going to be the ceremony for those who became affiliates or when this will be announced?
Thanks
August 9, 2014 at 1:50 pm #188916Verna good advice.
I know all the theory (standards and audit), I I’ll defiantly need to practice exam questions because my answers don’t seem to be hitting the spot.
Does anyone know if the P7 syllabus will be changing?

Failed at 35%. I genuinely cant recall whether this was my 5th or 6th attempt at this paper. Quite shocked not to be able to break out from the orbit of 35% ish.All the more surprising when i pass p5 1st time on this sitting… with the reputation that p5 has. Really cant see where i am going wrong.
Will have to think whether to sit again or try p4/p6.
Learning curve effect pls switch to p4
August 10, 2014 at 8:40 am #189115I see some got very high marks for P7. Can anyone share the study tips, please? Thanks a lot!

August 10, 2014 at 5:15 pm #189195Please let us all join forces to deal with the issue of poor treatment by ACCA and their lack of care for students. I know many of you may agree with me and others will disagree, but the botton line is that we are not treated fairly.
I must say that i feel very, very “BITTER” with ACCA and their marking team. If they claimed that answers are subjective. I recently sent them a letter of complaint and I really don’t want to hear their standard pass word about “FAIR MARKING PROCESS” this is more or less used like a “TATOO”. ACCA don’t know or even care how we feel. We feel emotionally, physically, spiritually and mentally defeated. Does ACCA really care about us at all? I don’t think so. The more we fail, the more money for the institution, thats how i feel. I have always felt that way and i want ACCA to help us “STUDENTS” to stop thinking that way. That is why lots of my friends left to pursue their studies in other institutions and have already finished ages ago, but here i am struggling. I feel enslaved by this institution. We are treated as “CASH COWS”Now, i wrote P7 and was “GIVEN” 46 marks out of 100, also P5 and was given 43 out of 100. I was expecting to clear my final papers or pass at least P7. ACCA should be proud of some one like me who does mainly “SELF STUDIES”, i am really trying. I know i better managed my time this sitting than any other sitting i can recall. I spent weeks of sleepless nights. My wife complained, i lost weight channeling all my energies into these two final papers. I practiced, practiced and practiced to get all failed result fomr ACCA. This time around, in an effort to finish my studies, I paid for on line tuition. It cost me way over two thousand plus dollars. I made the sacrifice like every one else to pass my exams, but my end result was “FAIL and FAIL”. Out of 12 persons that wrote the P5 exam here in my country, only one person pass P7 and this is her fourth or fifth attempt. For the P5 every one failed. One of my friend already wrote this paper approx. ten times and that’s her only paper and still did not pass. What is going on with these people, We feel robbed of our pride and have no one to turn to. Why do we have to pay for expensive ADMIN. REVIEW any I now believe what most students on the online forum has been saying. ACCA has a “FAIL RATE” to maintain. We the students are not stupid and we are getting wiser each and every day. If this treatment continues this organization will fail in years to come, as people will get to realize that we are being “RIPPED OFF”. I looked back at two P3 exams that i failed in succession in the past with the same marks of 32. This clearly tells me that once you fall within certain band or scale then you will just be given a mark similar to others within that category. ACCA gave me 46 in P7 “Close to a pass”. They brought me on a height and left me hanging like a “LOOSE CANNON”.As if to say “BOY U CAME VERY CLOSE” try harder next time. Please don’t treat us that way. I know i wrote a good paper this time around. Last sitting i got 31 marks in P7. How often does ACCA have to fail me before granting me a pass. I know i deserve a pass in at least P7 this time around. I also made a fair attempt at P5. There seem to be no mercy for “POOR PEOPLE CHILDREN” when it come to ACCA exams. Another observation is that i don’t usually get in the forties in my past exams. If i write a bad exam i usually get in the thirties, other than that i pass my exams. My past failures were due to time management. I know i managed my time better this sitting than any other time. I an thinking about quitting as i really don’t have the energy to continue fighting ACCA. Many students are realizing that it is all about money and are dropping out to pursue other courses. Those who want to start will say that they hear it all about money making. How can i convince them that is not the case. In the past i used to encourage lots of young people to do ACCA. I don’t do this any more. In fact, I don’t even mention ACCA any more.
The honest truth i really felt “RIPPED OFF”, I realy don’t care how you respond to my e-mail. If it is bad, it may just be a plus for me. I don’t feel loved by ACCA at all. Th system is there to “SQUEEZE US” until they are satisfied that enough money is obtained from each student until they are ready to give a pass. What about my hard work ,hard earned money and sacrifices to prepare for exams, only to be greeted with an e-mail to say you have failed your exams. ACCA makes people feel like they are “DULL”. we know i deserve better than that. The only positive answer that i am expecting from ACCA is convincing support and encouragement that will help us”MUSTER INTERNAL STRENGTH” to continue with our studies. I don’t know where to start of if i will continue at all as i am yet to see the fruits of my labour. To long we are taking our death like”SHEEP”. On two separate occasions i had to repeat two courses P3 and F7. I sent ACCA two very Harsh e-mails like this and the following sitting they give me a pass of a mere 50%. What does that tell you. I f we sit back and say nothing they will continue to “MILK US ALL”, those of you who are lucky need to count your blessings. Every one of you out there who think you did a good paper and deserve a better grade you need to send as much complaint as possible, why? because you are not satisfied. Lets go as far as possible. Don’t be afraid, it is your rights to speak up so that the whole world will know what is going on. Where is the transparency,”EH”. We need answers. The only way we can get it is to join forces. Open your mouth people and let your “VOICES BE HEARD” if that is the best you can do. If at least fifteen (15) persons voice their complaints, then this will give then a wake up call. Please note that i very honest about the letters i sent in the past and i recently sent another one. We all need answers. I urge you, do not labor in vein.

Allhamdullilah Passed and now affiliate. ( End the chapter)
August 11, 2014 at 7:57 am #189320Passed with 52% and now an affiliate!!! I cannot really believe it!
To all felling regret and pain: I managed to do that in my 1st sitting , with just a couple of days study, with full time job and without any kind of guidance, lectures etc.
I am not an exceptional student as others in here achieving some crazy 70+ marks and I consider myself just an average student.
Also, my statement is further enhanced as I had sit F8 about 5-6 times in the past….
So,how I did it?
I just finally comprehensed, realized and deeply in my heart understood that in the end ACCA is all about EXAM TECHNIQUE!!!! I know everyone say that, but only a few can REALLY understand and apply it. (this only applies to theoretical papers however).
All I did was to do a couple of past papers and extract some key elements from past papers official answers. I don’t understand why bother with third parties papers which are answered by tutors who are just not the examiner..!!
I wrote 110% of the paper and despite my undoubtedly many comments unmarked, I managed to gather the magic pass marks…
So , I feel that all non genious 70%+ candidates should apply this approach in da future!August 11, 2014 at 10:16 am #189347AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

Scored an 87! Do I stand a chance for a prize?
August 11, 2014 at 6:20 pm #189470I received this letter today from ACCA in response to my complaint posted previously.I still don’t buy it as they will say anything for comfort.
Thank you for your email which was sent for the attention of the ACCA Complaints department.
I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your June 2014 exam results.
It is not the intention of ACCA to fail our students, we want our students to progress into becoming ACCA Members and hold ACCA Membership until retirement. Exam papers are drafted and then reviewed by an Assessor whose job it is to ensure that the questions are relevant to the syllabus and that the paper is fair and balanced throughout. The Assessor also ensures that the suggested answers and marking schemes are suitable for publication.
All scripts are very carefully marked. Marginal scripts receive even greater scrutiny than the clear passes or fails.
Anyone with a mark in the high forties has their script looked at very carefully by the marker who originally awarded this mark to see if there are any other marks that could be awarded and if there are, adjustments are made.
All of these marginal scripts are also reviewed by the examiner to see if there is any justification for any further marks, which the marker was unable to find, to be awarded. All scripts are also checked by a team of checkers to ensure that no tallying errors have been made either within individual questions or parts of questions or in total.
Finally ACCA coordinators acting as examination auditors will also look at a sample of marginal scripts for each exam to ensure that the correct mark has been given in each case.
Therefore, someone who has received a mark of say 47%, 48% or 49% can be very sure that their mark is correct and that no more marks were available.
As ACCA uses the full scale of 0-100% in its marking schemes, it is inevitable that some candidates will have a mark which falls just short of the 50%. While this is frustrating for those involved, the candidate can be at least confident that with a little more work, a clearer understanding and using a better technique will be enough to get them through the resit exam.May I remind you that when you contact ACCA you are communicating with a professional body and this should be reflected in the tone and wording of your correspondence.
Kind regards,
