Failed at 49 and this has been my last paper since June 2011, this is my 6th attempt. I have been scoring 48/49 since June 2011; I wonder what they are doing with my one mark because I know I always write enough to give me a pass. It is heart breaking; I am beginning to wonder why I even started doing ACCA. I have invested a lot of resource but no result.

Why is P7 so difficult to pass? Why? Why?? Why???

Why have they not changed the Examiner since 2007?

@ hui ching, I always attempt all question, but not finishing them. I have never finished any ACCA exam and I have been passing. Why is P7 different?

Do you know how frustrating it is?

Option papers P4 to P7 have consistently recorded very low passing rates below 40% on average. P7 being one of the lowest passing rate. The standard for passing is very high at this level comparable to masters degree level. I got a pass after 3 attempts. I changed strategy by understanding the accounting and auditing standards very well and learn how to apply to different scenarios from the past questions. P7 is all about standard, standard, standard and risk, risk ,risk. Understand them well and APPLY them correctly to different scenarios. Since the marking standard is very high, every mark is worth answering to get a pass. The probability of getting a pass is higher if you answer all the questions. Read the examiner’s comments and learn the causes of failing this paper. And last but not least, pray hard too, may the force guide you pass.

P7 is a very deceptive course. It is easy to read and understand. So, many of us are taken by surprise when we fail. Let the consistent pass rate of 31% be a warning that one has to prepare very well. A P7 prize winner once wrote that they did each of the past papers 3 times to ensure a pass. I believe them. It is one thing to know the answer but another to know how the examiner wants this answer structured for the level you are at in order to get the full mark. Quality not quantity.

Sorry to maybe sound a bit negative but, in your own words, you say “….writing this P7 again and again” suggests that you have attempted it on more than, say, three times.

Clearly P7 is not for you. Have you, seriously, thought about a switch to one of the other option papers?

@MikeLittle, i have been having 48/49 each time, the last time it was 49. is it an indication that P7 is not for me?
