Finally done with P5 with 55% at sixth attempt. Was very skeptical and thought I had failed.
For those still doing P5 my advice is focus on key examinable area like NFPIs, FPIs (particularly EVA and RI), Quality issues, Budgeting, ABM, EMA etc. Read all technical articles especially those authored by members of examining team. Do not fear practising past exam questions and look at model answers. Q1 always report writing techniques.

Still one paper to go P7 this coming June.

Ellen, congrats on passing P4! For P5, yes there is no much theory. I did Q1 first without even looking at the others (not even in the reading time).. Than for all the others, I just open up a page or two for each q, listing the headings. Actually I did the same for Q1. Therefore while reading, I would decide if that para fits in q1a or b..so answering in the same time.

If you have 16 marks, think 16 sentences. Short answers, this is 1 point (1 mark)..this is why it matters (another mark); if you give another reason you may get another mark. But I wrote really basic and short answers. I passed 1st time, and to be honest I did not even read the book. I went to past exam questions quickly and learn from there.

Pay attention to the requirements. Most of the time you think you are asked to calculate ratios, but in fact, you need to analyse an existing report: too many kpi, is the report consistent, hoes help the reader..etc..so not calculating or interpreting the numbers! just coming up with the ideas to improve it and how it can help the stakeholders…

Think you advice a client; they won’t pay you to repeat what it is in the q; Advice them and say why it matters, why they should follow your advice; somethings that adds value; This is what is it in the scenario, it impacts the company in this way. these are my suggestions and why you should follow. Don’t be afraid to write..if you are referring to the scenario, you will get the marks. There is no wrong or right answer as long as you answer the q and refer back to the scenario…

If u feel u gave a good answer, its time to fail, on contrary, if u feel worried after the exam, then congratulations. This is the regularity of ACCA

@casb I have same situation. As I understand there is very little chance to get that one extra mark. As they just count the marks and will send you how many marks fro each questions you scored.
I am wondering ho/w many students in ACCA history applied for Admin review and turned from Fail into Pass? any statistics anywere?

Thank God !!!!! Finally after 6th attempt on P5 and 2nd attempt on P7. What a journey for 10.5 years to get through 7 papers.

Anyone took longer than me to qualify?

The greatest thing is that you are now over the hurdle. Go and have some fun. You deserve it! To God be the glory.

I took P5 and got 49 on my first attempt paid for review and within 24 hrs it came back no change its a waste of money as they dont actually remark the paper. It took me 7 attempts tp pass thank God this session i did it

I would say resit it while it fresh ..learn all the areas on syllabus outcome so that even if you didnt cover a topic it full it would seem forigen on the exam, loom at all examiner report and read articles.

    best of luck.
