James, was this your first attempt? In Sept I will do Section B first with stricter time managementYes this was first attempt, exam technique was all wrong and spent too much time on question 1 and ended up without enough time to really do Section B. Will go back to using the first 15 minutes to plan Question 1 answer and then have a cut off time in the plan for doing the two questions in Section B. Hopefully this technique works!!
July 16, 2018 at 10:06 am #463022Dont worry i also attempted it for the 3rd time and i passed with a 50%. Join the ACCA pakistan webminars they teach how to answer P5 questions. The link is

i was hoping for pass marks as the exam went well in compare to my previous attempts but i am sad and shocked to received only 46%. This was my 3rd attempt and i am really disappointed. It seems the examiner is trying to make the things difficult otherwise there should have been good pass rates as the questions was fair. 🙁
July 16, 2018 at 10:47 am #463067Passed on my second attempt with 50%! Only P4 left now; so stoked!
July 16, 2018 at 11:03 am #463086I failed with 39% for my first attempt, what did you do differently to pass?
Congratulations!
July 16, 2018 at 11:05 am #463088Failed First attempt with 48%
Admitted didn’t put enough effort for this paper
Time management is important, I didn’t complete about 20 marks for the Q1
Will work harder for the next attempt!July 16, 2018 at 11:06 am #463089Passed 50 second attempt. Feeling too very much happy. 1 more to go.
July 16, 2018 at 11:29 am #463106Interesting to note that pass rate as per this survey is tied with P7, proving that these are still very hard papers to pass.
July 16, 2018 at 11:36 am #463108It would be nice if those of you who successfully passed p5 would share how exactly you prepared to pass p5 (first attempt or not, doesn’t matter).
Thank you
July 16, 2018 at 11:50 am #463117Hi All,
P5- after 3rd tempt, I finally passed this paper with 63%.
It is my final paper and still feel unreal.
P5 is the hardest paper ( have tried 3 times, 45, 43 and 63). This paper is hard because the question wording, especially if you are second language user can be very tough.I wish all the best to you all.
Kind Regards,

Congrats! What have you changed in your study/revision technique to better prepare for a pass mark?
July 16, 2018 at 11:54 am #463119in P5 I think it is vital to plan your answer first. Simply draft it, before writing any longer discussion.
Previously I wrote much more and failed. This time I answered almost every question, by bullet-pointing my plan. Only few bullet points were not discussed deeper where I think I still scored 0,5 or 0,25 mark at least.
This is how Kaplan is teaching the exam technique.
1st plan then come back and add couple of sentences with application to scenario. And of course ATFQ =)
July 16, 2018 at 11:55 am #463120Hiya, @ds3ce
My studying method is very simple. I focus alot on kaplan textbook and thoroughly understanding it. Kaplan is very very important as theory subjects you should know the content. Weekends are very important if you are working, so I used to plan the weekdays for my weekends on what chapter to study and revise and practice on.
When it comes to my past paper practices, I read the question and scan through the answers at the back ,then form an answer in my note books.Remember this method only works when you have a good memory power sigh:P, yeah thats how it is.
I have failed only p5 p3, got through it in the second attempt.
And one more thing, my method may not work for you, you just have to find your own method.
Cheers Good luck!!!July 16, 2018 at 12:03 pm #463126Dear Members who passed in this attempt, Congratulations!!.
Please share the practice material you used for preparation. and any tips for P5 as there are very few people who are attempting it.
ThanksJuly 16, 2018 at 12:20 pm #463136Hi All, when preparing for P5, I noticed it was a very short syllabus with quite a lot of models etc. The key here is to watch the lectures and make notes while watching. Make your notes as clear as possible for revision purposes. When it comes to revision time, read through your notes only for approx 2 days and then do past papers on the ACCA website, A past paper a day. When doing the first 3 or 4 past papers, do not time yourself but simply read the questions thoroughly and try to understand what it asks of you. It is important here that you do not try to write an answer down here. My method is to read the question and then get a bunch of plain A4 paper and write out the full answer as in the answer booklet. This will help your confidence and also teach you at the same time. If you do this 3 or 4 times then youll soon be perfect at answering the questions. This is the method I used for all my written papers and I passed all P level papers at the first attempt. Nearer to the exam date, go through your notes again but this time only do 2 past papers max, 1 of them can be timed but not both of them or your fingers will be on fire on exam day. Dont forget every point you make must be linked to the scenario!!! Goodluck.
July 16, 2018 at 1:15 pm #463163Failed at 1st attempt with 33%.
I’m really shocked as I was reasonably well prepared for the exam and didn’t feel it was a total disaster on the day.
Is the administrative review through acca worth paying for?
I know my paper won’t be re-marked but it would help to know where I went so wrong!!
July 16, 2018 at 1:36 pm #463176The admin review won’t tell you where you went wrong, they just add up the marks to make sure they add up, I called them last year when I failed on 48 and was told that close fails are automatically remarked, so the admin review doesn’t even remark the paper, they take your money then add up the marks on the paper to make sure you were given the correct result, sorry but sadly no feedback
